Guest guest
Thank you all for such a wonderful welcome to the group! I have been learning so much! I was wondering if anybody has tried prolotherapy for their pain. I've had two treatments and am not sure if there is any improvement since I always have a lot of good days inbetween bad days. I started on this before finding out about hip resurfacing. In the beginning the doctor that is doing the treatments said that it may help to prolong the time before I need a THR. Since it doesn't actually improve the joint, it only strenthens that muscles and ligaments around the joint, do you think it is worthwhile to continue the treatments even if I will probably be getting the surgery done sooner rather than later? Also, I have been taking Glucosomine Sulphate for years now. Even my OS recomended it. I have lots of almost pain free days but I don't know if it is the GS or not. I also take Omega 3 in the form of flax seeds and fish oils. June
Guest guest
<PRE>June, I had prolotherapy on my hip 8 years ago and it indeed bought me more time as I still have my hip. It improved my gait and made my leg stronger and more like my good hip. It is minimamly invasive and no side effects except cost. I encourage the treatment unless you are bone on bone in a severe way. JB johnflybuch@...
Guest guest
-- June, I have had 4 prolotherapy treatments. I went to Chicago for them. I had a lot of faith that they could work, but looking back I think it helped take away some ligament pain, but did not improve the joint. The Dr. told me that I would need 6 more treatments to get any benefit, so I called it quits. The committment of going to Chicago plus wanting to see a little improvement within the 4 treatments, prompted me to move on to other things. - In surfacehippy , " junebonacich <junebugproductions@e...> " <junebugproductions@e...> wrote: > Thank you all for such a wonderful welcome to the group!
