i have been ttc for over a year. my blood work is all normal. i had

an hsg today which was pretty painful. my doc and the radiologist

say i have a BU. does anyone know how hard a BU makes getting preg?

i found a lot of info on how to confirm the dx and how to treat it

but ive found nothing on the infertility rates with a BU.

Most studies that I have read say that they have not found conclusive

evidence that links a higher rate of infertility to people with MAs.

This can be frustrating b/c at times it seems like us (who have MAs)

do have more infertility struggles.

There is a higher incidence of women with an MA also having

Endometriosis though, which does cause infertility. Have you had a

Laproscopy to check for Endo? I would recommend that as well as any

other fertility tests that you may not have yet had.

Best wishes to you!

Most people will tell you that BU alone should not cause

infertility. That seems to be the general consensus. Just because

your HSG shows you are BU, don't let the doc and radiologist fool

you. There is almost no way to know for sure that you are BU from

the HSG alone. I would strongly recommend you seek a firmer

diagnosis (the best way being through a laproscopy and hysterscopy).

A lap/hyst could also verify if you have any other problems like

endo. I say this because I was misdiagnosed as BU by my HSG, as were

many women here. Often they just use BU as a blanket term. Best of

luck in finding good info. THese ladies here are a great source.
