Guest guest
<< Has anyone else experienced this??? Anyone have any suggestions or comments on what to do next?>> It does sound like either an allergic reaction or a stress reaction (hives?). Was stressed about anything during the mapping? If this went away on its own while you were in the ER and they didn't seem that concerned (correct?), I'd kind of lean toward hives or a " contact " rash. Kids often get sudden, unexplained rashes which go away on their own and it's often supposed that they brushed against a plant or something to which their skin reacted. (I used to break out in hives all over my arms when I'd lie on grass as a kid...but only once in a while and I didn't have any known allergies.) Stress can also bring on an attack of hives. If he didn't have any trouble breathing during this episode, I'd be less concerned than if you think he had difficulty with that or with swallowing. What did the ER docs suggest? Perhaps you should call your pediatrician just to be extra careful? Carol - mom to , 7.9, mod to profound, LVAS
Guest guest
Wow, that's very odd. I can't imagine what caused the rash. Did he eat anything during the session? Was that side of his face pressed or rubbed up against anything that may have caused an allergic reaction? I was curious about the testing. Has he always tested at 45 - 55 dB? Is this where the audiologist is content to be. I thought the CI was capable of bringing the hearing levels to 25-35 dB across all frequencies. I know everybody is different. My son has been testing at 25-30 consistantly from the beginning. How's he doing with wearing the CI now? I really feel for you during this time. Guest guest
I have the same concern re the DB levels. My son can bring his 100 db down to those levels with his h/a's so if that's all he can derive from a CI, it wouldn't be worth it for us. Re: 30 month eval for CI > Wow, that's very odd.
