Well, I just can't believe our time in the casts is OVER! He got his

first cast at 7 weeks so we spent seven weeks total in the casts.

Silas got his FAB on Wednesday. I was SO GLAD to see that last cast

come off. I had been worried because it was a different style than we

had been getting at Gillette in St. . It was plaster up to just

over the knee, and then wrapped fiberglass on top of that up to his

groin. It seems to have done fine, though. The tenotomy site had

healed so beautifully as well. It had healed even faster than the

spot where he was cut a little with the cast saw (abraded really,

since those things use friction not an edge to cut eh plaster)

He managed to spit up right on the cast quite a few times during the 3

weeks, so it was getting kind of yucky, we were glad it was time for

it to go :).

He had a really rough time with the shoes for the first two days, but

now he seems totally happy again. In fact, he is in love with his

shoes. He pats them and keeps trying with all his might to get his

face down far enough to eat them! He hasn't managed it yet, of course

:).

I was too wimpy the first time I put them on and he managed to kick

them off before we figured out how tight the ankle strap needed to be.

It is much easier to carry him with the shoes and bar than I had

anticipated. I was a little worried about that. I've still had to

try and pay attention so I don't put any torque on his lil' legs when

I'm shifting him around.

That's all our news! Yay again!
