Guest guest
Dear Sunshine, Sorry didn't get your name. I haven't given up bread but I try to always go for whole grains when it comes to bread, pasta and rice. You have to read labels too because there is a lot of " brown " stuff out there that is really enriched, so you have to be vigilant to make sure you are getting the good stuff. I have lost 30 lbs so far, so I must be doing something right. :-) I do, however eat pizza occasionally and that is on regular crust so I'm not perfect about it. :-) Peace, Jen N. Guest guest
I have given up white bread entirely... I eat whole grain bread and wheat pasta and it has made a HUGE difference. Nicci Bread? Has anyone here given up bread completely? I recently spoke to a friend of mine who works out at a local gym who said that the way he became so lean and muscular was by cutting out bread. If anyone has given up bread entirely, let me know how you manage eating! So many meals I love involve bread/bread products, but I'm willing to give it a shot. This isn't a no-carb thing, just bread only. Thanks!

Guest guest
I actually have a bread maker, so theoretically i could make my own bread and be sure of the ingredients. However everything I love - pizza, taco bell etc involves white flour. I'll have to figure out a way to resist temptation....unfortunatley my friends make friday nights taco bell or something else greasy night. It makes me nuts. Oh well...I've gotta try! By the way, the name is doni! > Dear Sunshine, > Sorry didn't get your name. > I haven't given up bread but I try to always go for whole grains when it > comes to bread, pasta and rice. > You have to read labels too because there is a lot of " brown " stuff out there > that is really enriched, so you have to be vigilant to make sure you are > getting the good stuff. Doni, You can still do Taco Bell...if you order chicken soft tacos, and pintos and cheese, its an okay choice, not too bad for you, really! A little high on the sodium, but not so bad calorie wise...you might try http://www.3fatchicks.com/ for nutritional information on fast food, or if you need one with Weight Watchers points, there is a good one at http://www.healthdiscovery.net/ . Hope that these will help you make more informed decisions, and that you will still be able to have treats with your friends! Sharon

Guest guest
Give up bread????!!!!! That's a sin isn't it?!!!! JK LOL I have cut down a lot since I started losing weight but I could never give it up. I know body builders will just eat protein before a competition to get their body fat down but it's not something yo do on a regular basis. In my opinion, balance is key. Guest guest
Hey gena, I agree with you that balance is key, thats why I'm not giving up carbs. My friend did say that bread was the worst thing possible to eat, and by the looks of him he seems to know what he's talking about lol-. I'm such a huge bread person though, so I think if I can manage to cut wayyyyyyyyy back on bread - save for special occasions only or something - that my weight loss will improve. One can hope! - In weightlossbuddies2 , Gena Grunwald <auroragg@m...> wrote: > > Give up bread????!!!!! That's a sin isn't it?!!!! Guest guest
I gave up alot of starches but not all of them. Corn mostly because it has little nutritional value. But you NEED carbs. Ya gotta get energy from somewhere! Just don't overdo. And stay away from beer. One is equal to a whole LOAF of bread. Yes really.

Guest guest
Doni, I know, I love my bread too! But I have cut waaaayyy back on it! I don't think it is all bad for you though. If you get whole wheat or multi grains they are good for you. It's funny, I switched to whole wheat bread a few years ago and Mike was like good, I don't like white bread! I'm like you're kidding?! Why didn't you tell me? LOL Gena > Hey gena, I agree with you that balance is key, thats why I'm not > giving up carbs. I would always eat wheat but I don't think it was completely wheat bread. Too soft. Anyways, now I buy the whole grain stuff. The stuff that is more than $2/loaf. Way expensive IMO. My son won't eat it so I continue to buy the soft stuff for him and the expensive stuff for me. Now today I had about 6 pieces. But normally I have only about 5 slices a week. That is probably not enough in a balanced diet but I am working on that. maryruth 235/196.75/
