Guest guest
Hey guys! Well, I've had an interesting few days here at the hospital. Tuesday the 28th was the one year anniversary of the birth and death of my little baby girl, Saylor, so I was happy to get through that day without anything bad happening. However, I did discover that I had a really bad bladder infection that day which totally sucks! Wednesday the 29th was the day I turned 27 weeks and it also marked 9 weeks here in the hospital. Well, when I woke up on Wednesday, I wasn't feeling quite right. I had a little bit of crampiness in my lower abdomen and I thought I was having stomach problems like diarhea but in actualitly I wasn't. That's just what it felt like. Well, I told my nurse that morning and they decided to hook me up to the monitors to watch for contractions even though I wasn't feeling any at the time. A little while later, my doctor called the hospital. She had been watching the monitor from her office and noticed that I was indeed contracting...like every 3-5 minutes! I couldn't even tell! The next thing I know, I'm being wheeled out of my room in the gynecology wing of the hospital and around the corner to labor and delivery. I really didn't think there was anything big going on until I got into my new room and there were like 10 people there hovering over me. My doctor was doing a sono to see what position the babies were in just in case she had to do an emergency c- section, I was being hooked up to an IV for magnesium sulfate (that stuff sucks!) and I was given a shot of terbulatine (sp?) all at the same time! They also started another round of steriods for the babies lungs even though I had them 3 weeks ago. Apparently, since I took them at 24 weeks which is as early as they can give them, it doesn't hurt to give another dose. Also while all of this is going on, the neonatologist and nurse practioner from the NICU were in there talking to my husband and I about what would be happening to the babies if I were to deliver right then. Talk about a lot to sink in! Apparently, my husband and I were the only one's who didn't think I was going to have them that day...and we were right! I ended up having to be on the highest dose of mag my dr. likes to give, but the contractions have really slowed down. They think now that the reason for the sudden contractions was because of my bladder infection. I have been on antibiotics since Tuesday for it, so it's gotten alot better. The babies are doing fine and I was able to go down a dose on the mag which is great! I couldn't hold my eyes open or focus on anything at all last night with that stuff and the hot flashes were unreal! Yuck! Plus, I was having to have my blood drawn every 6 hours to test my mag levels so my poor arm is black and blue and looks like a pin cushion. My dr. is only ordering to have that done once a day now, instead of 4 so we're doing much better today! I don't know how long my dr. will keep me on the mag but as for now, the contractions have pretty much stopped and I'm still pregnant, so that's the important part. I'm sorry if I keep rambling or if this doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's the best I can do while I'm still feeling a little drunk from this mag. Anyway, that's whats going on with me at the moment. I just wanted to keep everyone updated. I'll let you know if anything changes!
