Guest guest
I did a Google search to see if I could come up with anything remotely related to Dr. Phil selling diet pills, and I came up with nothing. I seriously doubt that he's involved with that. I'm not a Dr. Phil devotee, but regarding weight loss I do believe he has some credible things to say. Guest guest
Dear Bev, My husband and I both watched. It was typical of his approach to things: straight forward, no nonsense, you create your own experience stuff. I enjoyed it. Anyone have the book yet? I may check it out from the library. I like Phil's basis, yet I think he could practice what he preaches and be a little more credible to me. Deanna, Supplements? What? I've never seen such a thing from Phil, how could he stoop so low. I guess no one person is totally an authority, nor without a flaw of some sort. We would be smart to take the best of many experts and draw our own truths and conclusions. Guest guest
I wonder if there are Dr. Phil Supplements (which I had too heard about) that maybe he is not marketing them.....something like WW magazine being seperate from WW meetings? Maybe he has no control over some things that are being done using his name, although he would get some $ from the profits. Guest guest
Well it has his picture on the box so I doubt it's been done without his help. And the label says.... * Each Packet Contains: 2 High Quality Multivitamin/Multimineral Tablets, 2 Pear Weight Management Tablets, 1 Pear Metabolism Tablet, 1 Pear Specialty Tablet. " Weight Management Tablets " and " Metabolism Tablets " sounds like diet pills thrown in with multivitamins to me! Kris
Guest guest
There are a number of legal ways for this to be done. It's done everyday just like the Weight Watchers magazine/WW cookbooks are not run by WW it's farmed out. Look back at the family friendly companies that have run ads during TV shows that were very less than family oriented episodes and the advertisers pulled their ads because the marketing companies paid to run ads during these times and the actual product company was upset that their ads were run during these tv shows. Dr. Phil could have sold his rights to someone to do this and it's theirs to do with whatever they want and he gets a % of royalties. It's done frequently and it keeps his costs down and the lawyers off his back, yet income continues to flow in. Moe If it's not a baby, Your not pregnant! Guest guest
How many points, Kathy??? I indulge in a Perkins breakfast every once in awhile. I get pancakes. I always get the sugar-free syrup from them, or take my own in my purse. I use Denny's points as a guide. You could get scrambled egg beaters, bacon and dry toast. That would probably be 2 pts for the eggs, I count bacon as 1 point apiece, and toast is...shees, what is it for normal bread? 1 pt per slice or 2. Or an english muffin, i count them as 3 pts at perkins. I'm not very creative right now, can't think up anything low point. Lyn Dr. Phil I've watched the first two shows in Dr. Phil's Weight Loss Challenge and read the first two chapters of his book. I will keep reading and really try to reach the 7 keys = they make sense to me. Not sure what I think of his challenge. I could relate to many of the people he chose today and am happy for them that they have the opportunity to work through their weight issues with him. But, the fact that they have that - a personal coach/trainer " free of charge " and the added " motivation " that he will fulfill their wildest dreams if they reach all 7 keys makes me wonder about the rest of the folks out there (like us!) The participants are basically " reality TV contestants " in my mind. This list is and will continue to be my real source of inspiration. No gimmicks, just real conversation, support, and motivation! Question - any satisfying, low point breakfast ideas for Perkins? I'm off to Dottie's site to try to figure out what to have when I meet a friend on Saturday! Guest guest
Thanks - I like the idea of just the scrambled eggs with egg beaters. The bfast you described would be a good choice. It doesn't have to be way low in points - just a normal point bfast. I will be able to watch what I eat the rest of the day. Thanks! Guest guest
Yeah well, even if this is a " farm " out on his part, he still needs to take the responsiblity.. he's quick enough to tell other people!! and he railed against the diete industry on one of the recent shows!!! arrgh!!!! I thought you were saying that they used his name without his permission, that he wasn't a part of it. They can't do that. (Well they CAN, but it would be illegal.) He's definitely a part of it. He may not be directly involved, but he's involved. I am not against people making money. I like money. It's pretty. It keeps me in kibble. I just think that when it's sort of " touted " as how to change a lifestyle, and then you see things like weight loss pills (when no pill has been shown to be safe and effective for weight loss, ever) and meal replacement bars, and " eating for your shape " then he's not even following his own advice. He's criticizing the weight loss industry out of one side of his mouth, then joining it out of the other.

Guest guest
Money train, money train, money train, LOL!! I did try one of Dr. Phil's bar yesterday, although I certainly hated to buy any of his stuff since I feel he is just one more person making money off the problem of obesity. I am always on the outlook for a good tasting, high protein bar to get more protein into my diet and something to eat on the run. It was ok. I won't buy again, it was 4 pts and certainly had that funky meal bar replacement taste. It was pretty good sized. I used it for lunch, then ran some errands on my way to work and to tell you it didn't fill me up, well, I was driving by a subway, did an extreme screech into the parking lot and got me a 6 " turkey sub for some " more " lunch. So, that's my take on Dr. Phil's bars and I wouldn't waste money on the supplements either.
