I am taking paxil and have been for six years. It worked well until my thyca treatment and now its barely holding me. I've also found that if I miss even one day I become a raving monster. The literature indicates no problems with combining synthroid and SSRIs but many people I know have shared your experience. I am also a psych social worker and have found that many folks do better with Wellbutrin to boost the effects of an SSRI. I would recommend to pursue vigourously with your doctor and don't be afraid to be a squeaky wheel if your not getting results. While I would also stress to NEVER change meds or doses on your own, I also have worked with psychiatrists long enough to know that they get stuck on whats the current " new thing " in medication and often are resistive to hearing it doesn't work with some people. In treatment of depression SSRIs are the hot new answer. For some they are but for many they have not done the job. Don't settle for feeling crummy!!
