Guest guest
Forgive me if I am not doing this correctly and please guide me to the correct way. In reading Janie's book and looking through some of this site, I am trying to find direction as to where to start. I have found a new doctor who was willing to run all the tests I requested. The lab results are in and I do see that I'm not where I need to be (as if I didn't know this already). I really want to believe that my new doctor is sure of what she is doing and would like to get some input on all of this from experienced folks as yourself. Here are my results: Free T3 = 207 (230-420), Free T4 = 1.1 (0.8-1.8), TSH = 2.71 (0.40-4.50), Reverse T3 = 33 (11-32), Iron = 113 (40-175), Ferritin = 41 (10-232), Adrenocorticortropin Hormone 11 @9am(5-27), Salivary Cortisol and DHEA was done through Genova Diagnostics and the 7-9am =1.05, the 11am-1pm =0.16, the 3pm-5pm =0.18, the 10pm-12am=0.24, and the DHEA 7am-9am =595 (71-640), DHEA: Cortisol Ratio/10,000 = 567 (115-1,188), Vitamin D =37, LH and FSH serums shown that I am not in peri-menapause as I thought may have been going on, Glucose, fasting =73 (65-99), Insulin, serum = <2 (less than 17 uIU/mL). I was given a Rx for Cytomel 5mg to take daily w/Synthroid 50mcg and after 14 days nothing good and I was told to take 5mg in the morning and 5mg at bedtime. For my adrenals I was given supplements: Adrenaltone Plus by " designs for health " 1 capsule 3x per day, and MyoSedate 3capsules at dinner which did nothing to help me sleep so now I take an additional 3 capsules 1 hour prior to bed. I was also told to take 2000 IU of Vitamin D also. Of course I asked about some elemental iron, but was told not at this time, just try to eat more foods that contain iron. I have purchased some good multi vitamins, b-complex, vitamin D, and vitamin C. From reading your site, should I be working on building my iron stores first and adrenal issues at the same time before dropping Synthroid and going all Cytomel? The doctor wants to recheck levels after on Cytomel for 1 month. I wonder if this will be a waste of time and money? I have thought about Isocort, but I do not know how bad my adrenals really are....mild, moderate, severe? Can you tell what catagory they would be in? Thank you for any assistance you can give me and also for your time.I look forward to hearing back from you. Marcy
