Unit Hour Utilization?

I work in a system status management system and we all

know it doesn't work but the powers that be are not

going to do away with it so I have the following

questions?

I would say the average call takes around 1 hr. to run

from time of dispatch to available.

What would a good UHU be for a large urban ems service

working 12 shifts, a service averaging 250 - 300 calls

a day?

How are UHU calculated?

Are post moves calculated into the UHU, can they be

counted, should they be counted?

I know most contracts are written so that a company

meets certain response time goals but wouldn't it be

prudent to have it writtne into the contract that the

UHU be below a set standard to help ensure that you

have enough ambulances for coverage and keep the wear

and tear of the employees lower.

Thanks Will
