Guest guest
I usually have mine at about 65-67, otherwise I get sick. I can't afford it either but I can't afford hospital bills either. I just applied for liheap yesterday (that is heating assistance) can't you apply for it there? You don't have to necessarily be low income or be on SSI or anything to get it. ~*~Hugs~*~ ~*~Akiba~*~ -- RE: Brrrrrr Right now it is 1 degree below zero here, but the wind stitched around tothe north so at least the "daytime" areas of the house are warmer - got italmost up to 60 degrees in there! Also made an executive decision that it's in the best interest of ourhealth to have the extra calories of meat the next couple of days, so I havea bit of beef and pork "asada-ing" on the stove for chili - my man has todrag to town and back in this weather, ain't gonna feed him just beans forsupper! :-)Wearing 2 layers of EVERYTHING in WY"You get a wonderful view from the point of no return..." http://www.flickr.com/photos/liadains_fancieshttp://practical-blackwork.blogspot.com http://practicalblackwork.com-----Original Message-----From: MSersLife [mailto:MSersLife ] On BehalfOf AkibaSent: Tuesday, December 08, 2009 12:21 AMTo: MSersLife Subject: Re: Brrrrrr Dang! Guest guest
We applied and we miss it by just a few dollars. Same with food stamps. We are in that "donut hole" they talk about. But we were approved for the winter weatherization program. Now if LIHEAP and food stamps used the same guidelines we could get LIHEAP and food stamps. Besides, it's not just a matter of turning something on - it's there's no insulation in the walls + need new furnace + old electrical system can't handle more + " global warming " (hah!). Them there Amish sure are proud of their things.... <G> Not frigid, just froze in WY " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return... Methinks I'm going to go to bed, where Himself and the 3 dogs (and the one cat that always sneaks in) are snoring and waming the room with all that hot breath - good night, guys, stay warm and cozy! :-) Our high for tomorrow is forecast as 3!!!! Guest guest
,Is it all reasonable that you could convert the furnace to gas or oil? You need to stay warmer than that!hugs and love, Kate Brrrrrr> > > I was going to come and write something interesting and > intelligent, but> it's so cold now that I have a heating pad in my lap to thaw my > fingers!Methinks I'm going to go to bed, where Himself and the 3 > dogs (and the one> cat that always sneaks in) are snoring and waming the room with > all that hot> breath - good night, guys, stay warm and cozy! :-)> > > Our high for tomorrow is forecast as 3!!!! Guest guest
Nothing to convert - it's a big cast-iron antique behemoth, circa sometime in the Teens or Twenties. I think a pellet or woodstove might well be our best bet - if we can ever get up the money and not suddenly need it for some other emergency! Generally speaking, we're usually pretty comfortable - this past week has been below-normal temps, thankfully something that only happens for a few days at a time a couple of times a winter. The warm-up is on today - we're supposed to get up to almost 10 degrees, and back into the 20s by Saturday. in WY " You get a wonderful view from the point of no return...
