Just wanted to comment on this one real quick, I also experienced the same

thing for about a month after my RAI (156mCi). Wasn't real severe, but was

annoying. I see its been longer than that since your RAI, so you may want to

check with your doc. and see if there is anything he can suggest or do.

Well, no wonder - with a TSH of 10, you've been VERY hypo for over 4

months!!! Your target TSH to suppress your thyca is 0.1, which is a

long way from 10.

There are a number of reasons that the Synthroid may not be working -

interactions with other meds/food, if it gets too hot... Here is some

info on how to take and store your T4 - see if this helps:

11763 Levothyroxine (T4) - HOW TO TAKE IT, HOW TO STORE IT

(recommendations from Dr. Ain)

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Thyca/message/11763

You may need a higher dose, as well. The doctor should be testing you

TSH levels every 6-8 weeks till you're suppressed.

How much RAI did you get?

Did you follow a LID (low iodine diet)?

What is your TG level?

> A few other things I'm wondering about: have lots of you had to have

> more than one course of RAI?

I wouldn't say lots - some do

> When do the docs consider a second course?

If your TG is elevated, or scans show signs of tissue.

They should do a scan, one way or another, in about 6-12 months to see

if you have any remaining tissue. Having a high TSH means that you

are not getting enough T4. Perhaps you're confusing TSH with TG

levels?

> And how do they determine whether

You've got it!!

This sounds suspiciously like calcium deficiency - did you have damage

to your parathyroids in surgery? I'd have the doctor check your

calcium levels

Here's a list of various hypo symptoms:

I would recommend that this is NOT what you want. In most cases, a

pc doctor will NOT have the expertise you need - you should be

followed by an endo who is familiar with thyca. I'm sure someone here

or at the meeting can give you recommendations.

Hi, I have some questions I guess, I have had pain on my right breast,

and the Physican Assistant, felt and said I had optic changes on both

of them, but said if it was cancer it would not be painful right now,

so not to worry, but I can't wrapp my mind around it, and wonder if I

should be worried, she wants me to have no caffine, and no chocolate,

and if there is no change then she will do a mammogram, but honestly

im a bit scared breast cancer runs in my family, I have had cervical

cancer already, and a hyster at 25, im 30 now, so any information

would be a great help please..

Bree/scared patient..

Thank you for your help, I talked to my doctor and they are

scheduleing me a appointment right now, and thank you for the

information, I am still a bit scared, but have been praying with my

family about it and my church is also praying, so what more can I do

but put it in his hands right? I will let you know more when I know,

and thanks again

> Hi Bree and welcome to the group. Although most tumors are not

painful there are ladies in the group that have found theirs due to

having pain. Caffeine CAN cause problems. I would not wait more than

a few weeks at most. I would also insist on talking to your doctor

and not the assistant especially seeing that you had members in your

family that have had breast cancer and also since you have had

cervical cancer. If need be get a second opinion. I will keep you in

my prayers.
