Hello, hatslady. Thank you for your response. I'd like to comment as I read it, so I'll put your comments in brackets and my responses following.

<<Tai, I am working hard to truly legalize ALL foods for myself, but I think almost all of us would admit that sometimes, on some items, it can be tricky. If I go in the kitchen to feed my kids or do the dishes etc. and a treat item is out on the counter, even if I'm not hungry, I immediately want to eat some.>>How very interesting. The mind can be a tricky, or shall we say -- interesting thing, hmm? I have similar responses, with one exception that I have noticed. If I am satiated, and I won't say 'full,' because sometimes I am ostensibly full but can eat a lot more when presented with foods that are irresistable to me at that time. So while I mentally know I am full, that I have eaten enough so-called, I can and do eat more to a large extent. But right now I do not find the pistachios irresistible, although they are near the chair where I'm sitting. But I just had a very delicious breakfast about 40

minutes ago and while I can look at something wonderful , I am feeling absolutely full and satisfied. I am working on noticing what I eat and how much I eat that gives me this feeling of satisfaction without the need (I won't say desire, because I always desire to eat more...) to eat more.<<But I have found that so long as I don't have the most appealing items out on the counter or in the front of the frig or a cabinet I HAVE to open while feeding my kids, I usually don't think about them until I'm hungry. And then it's completely okay to start out eating a serving of that item, although I generally serve myself something more nutritious next to it (if I don't think it will fill me up alone)>>I do the same thing, in fact will reject something more nutritious if I'm at that "moment."<<and keep the initial serving sizes reasonable, then play it by ear (but

definitely not by EYE, which always seems to want to eat it ALL if it's on my plate). >>Yeah. This morning I decided to eat MORE than I would usually take. So instead of having one slice of bagel (I cut them very thin), I decided to have TWO slices with my egg & salsa. Plus I had some fresh fruit which I like to start my day with. I knew it was more than I would usually take. Usually I take only ONE slice of bagel, but this time I decided to experiment with my hunger and urges and have more. Right now, 40 minutes later, I feel absolutely satisfied, without the need or urge to eat more. That is a wonderful feeling, I'll see how long it lasts. :-)<<Somehow, just the fact that I need to go back into the kitchen for seconds is often enough to help me become aware that the hunger signal is gone.>>I agree.<<Since I KNOW I

can have more whenever I am next hungry, that goes well. And I am astonished to report that when I do get hungry, I often do not even think of those treats out of sight. For example, in my kitchen right now are... oh never mind, I don't need to activate anyone's cravings. Suffice it to say, I just ate and am surprised to realize I never even thought of having any of those!>>Jane, that was my experience at the beginning of my present journey with IE. (That I could eat what I wanted later if I felt full at the present time. But somehow that got lost recently and so I'm working on another aspect of this.)<<Jane>>It was a pleasure speaking with you, and hope you will have a good day!Tai
