Timing questions

Today I am keeping track of times that I eat, how hungry I feel during the day and so forth. I have a question particularly for the long-time practicers of IE. I welcome newbie's responses as well, as I myself am considering myself fairly new to this process, although digesting the information for over a year now. How much time passes after you eat until you notice you want to (and do) eat again when you have a choice? By that I mean when you make your own schedule, you are not at someone else's schedule, etc., at work, and so forth. How much time after you eat elapses until you feel hunger signals again? Tai

Tai,

Right now I am eating dinner with the family IF I AM HUNGRY WHEN THEY EAT, which

is probably half the time? Our family mealtimes have been a high priority for

us in the past, but I am not yet up to sitting with them while they're eating

and not eating myself. I have found that if I " wasn't quite fully hungry " and

chose to eat with them, those were exactly the occasions when I ate a ton (even

if it wasn't that great) and ended up with a tummy ache. It clearly showed me

that unless I start the meal with my stomach growling in hunger, my stomach

never stops grumbling at me to eat and so I have no clue when to stop eating. I

guess that makes sense: if it didn't tell me to eat, I am acting against my

body's wishes in feeding it, and so it can't tell me when to stop.
