Guest guest
Hello Glenna! We're packing up for the trip and are SOOO excited! I am a little nervous about insurance but we'll just see what happens. When I asked Sue about it, she said they no longer require pre-approval so not to worry about it. Well, my experience has been that insurance approval is the requirement for everything so I went ahead and started getting the approval BUT our insurance company is slow-walking things. Our non-diet neuro here is awesome and faxed a " letter of necessity " etc so we could jump through their hoops. Although the neuro's office says they not only faxed it but got a fax back asking for a code and then faxed that back, too, the insurance company says they have not heard from him????? Soooo he called on Friday and will work on it on Monday. I told the lady from the insurance company that I didn't really care when they approved us- things had gotten worse and we were going this week regardless. I think she got my point. = ) We'll see. I just have this fear of going through all of this and then having someone there say " Sorry, we don't have pre-approval. Come back next month. " If that happens, I'll be the crazy woman who has chained herself to the EEG machine.... ; ) Anyway, wish us luck! If all goes well, we'll see you guys on Tuesday!! Hugs to the girls! , mom to Langan, 19 months old and keto kid since 11/
Guest guest
Hello , Ooooh...so excited for you! I hope you are as happy as we were. Hopefully the insurance thing won't be a problem. Cincinnati was the most laid back place ever about insurance and payment info. In fact, we just got a letter today about Macie's admission, saying that they hadn't received full payment from insurance company. I knew they wouldn't, because we have a sizeable copay for admissions and they didn't ask for it when she got admitted. We will eventually get a bill for that I'm sure, but most places want it UP FRONT or they won't even talk to you. I thought this said something about the hospital that they aren't focused on the money. As far as the referral, our insurance doesn't need one for specialists, but Cincinnati initially said they required one. They took the name and number of our ped, and I'm fairly certain they called him directly before we even came. Don't worry, if they see the stack of films and tracings in your hands, I'm sure they'll know you aren't there just for the fun of it. Just in case, I'll be on the look out for a crazy woman! Please have a safe trip, try to get some sleep at the hotel. If you end up getting admitted, there won't be much sleeping at the hospital! FYI - there's a super library at the hospital with Children's books and parent resources. They have computers/printers and internet access so you won't go through withdrawal if you have to stay. If you have a laptop, there are modems in each of the hospital rooms! VCR's in the room, too, in case Langan has any favorite movies. Oh, there's also a " fun lady " who comes around and brings toys and movies to the patients....GREAT! Take care, see you Tuesday! Hugs to Langan, too! Guest guest
I'm sorry to impose on your message, but what would cause Langan to be admitted? Something diet related or other? Just curious. I remember saying to be prepared for an admission and then Glenna mentioned a one night hospital stay as well. Again, just curious shari Mommy to Mikaela -- 3 years old and keto kid since May 2003 > > Hello Glenna!
