I'm curious what Val will respond...I do know that for me going dairy-free and sugar-free has totally eliminated long-standing sinus problems.

To: RT3_T3 Sent: Wed, November 25, 2009 8:46:39 PMSubject: sinus problems

I can't take it anymore. I can't breathe through my nose, nasal passages feel swollen and it's driving me crazy.

Is this low HC or low T3?

Hi Miriam,I've been dairy free and sugar free for years!  It must be something else for me.  It's awful, so hard to live with this.  I might have to resort to getting a nasal spray with cortisone.Elyse

wow! being dairy free and sugar free and still having sinus issues! Dear you! I pray you find relief a.s.a.p.

Did I forget to mention, I'm also gluten free. Don't know if it makes a difference or not. I do know that if I'll eat a scoo of dairy ice cream or a slice of cheese or some yogurt, my nose will get stuffy, it's not worth it; so i am one hundred percent off dairy. What else might be causing your sinus issues? hmm...wondering...and praying for relief for you...

yes, also gluten free too.  I have a pretty limited diet.that's why it's gotta be a thyroid or cortisol issue.  I am not on optimal thryoid yet, but I'm really confused if I'm on too little and of what :-)

Mec:

You sound desperate and you have my sympathies. I know the feeling very well.

I've been there. All I can do is tell you what has worked for me. I have been a

life-long sinus sufferer, miserable since a child. Been to a dozen ENT's. (BTW,

you do know that sinus problems are common with thyroid people?) I thought of

sending this to you privately, but since so many thyroid people have sinus

problems, I decided to post to the group and share with everyone. I hope this

isn't too OT.

Anyway, after progressing from being totally miserable I went to chronic sinus

infections for the last 8 years with heavy antibiotics after each bout. I was at

the end of my rope. I think it actually caused my adrenal fatigue.

I found a local doctor who had moved upstate NY from Manhattan. Dr. Norris Lee.

His crendentials are incredible, I'll include the link to where you can check

him out. I know you're probably not in NY, I'm just saying this because this guy

rally knows what he is doing. We should all have thyroid docs like this.

He put me on the following regime. I'll include links to drugstore.com because

they sell the stuff but there's more than one kind and method so this is

information so you know which product to buy - that is if you want to - but you

can buy it at your local drugstore. Hey, it's worth $20 if it'll give you

relief, right?

You want NeilMed Nasal Wash with the squeeze bottle, the BLUE box, not the red

and NOT the neti pot! Not any special formula.

This is the link for the starter kit:

http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=142205 & catid=12203

Use luke warm distilled water, heated in the microwave in a GLASS, like 20 -25

seconds, NOT in the plastic squeeze bottle. Then pour water into the bottle to

the fill line, add the packet, close, shake the mixture, and with your head over

the sink, squeeze and rinse one nostril then the other.

Let all the water pour out before you bring the bottle back to your nose and

after you squeeze, don't let go of the bottle. Move it away from your nose, then

release the bottle so that you don't suck the water back into the bottle and

contaminate the solution. The instructions in the Neil Med kit are very good

but I don't know if it includes this. When the bottle is empty, turn your head

upside down, shake your head a bit to swish around any solution left in your

sinuses and then blow one side at a time, tilting your head so one ear is down,

blowing out the nostril that's up, then do the other side the same way. After

that, you can blow your nose upright as usual. You do this twice a day, 3 times

if it's allergy season or something and you're having a bad day.

During the rest of the day, as often as needed, if you need it, use Simply

Saline spray. You can use this 30 times a day if you need it. (you won't, but

it's that safe and benign). There are other saline products out there, this doc

says that this is the best. You want plain Simply Saline. Not the cold formula,

not the homeopathic, just the basic plain Simply Saline. This link is for the

bigger one, 4.5 oz. which is most economical. I keep the smallest one, I think

it's 1.5 oz. in my purse, the big one at home.

I cannot tell you what a difference this has made in my life. I am not 100%

symptom free every day, but I am a whole lot better all the time and it has

really improved the quality of my life.

If you have any questions, just email me off - group.

I hope this helps you as much as it helped me.

Good Luck,

Donna

Yes Yes! the nasal wash is amazing! I've never used it myself but my friend's child has a chronic sinus problem and she says since she uses the nasal wash she is amazed by the results!
