I feel alot better after the visit yesterday. I can remain awake, which was a

big concern of mine. I need to know what's going on! The doctor said we

could chat during the whole thing, so she'd be telling me what she sees and what

she's doing.....

The toughest part for me is the no food or drink 8 hours before - and my surgery

is scheduled for 1PM.... no coffee??!@!????

Anyway, it sounds easy enough, and here's hoping it does the trick!!!

Oh Joya - not a big deal.

It's a hysteroscopy (look see) and Endometrial Thermablation. It's pretty much

a D & C, with biopsy, then a burning of the uterine lining to try and control the

bleeding....

Terri,

I'm sorry. I've been so wrapped up in me I missed your surgery news or

just didn't pay heed. I know everything will work out for you. Being awake

makes all the difference in the world both in terms of knowing what is

happening and in speeding recovery. You'll do great girl.

Mine was a 1 PM too. But you need to be to hospital at least two hours ahead of time and they will probably give you a shot to relax you a bit, then you won't care about caffeine withdrawal or hunger pains. try to sleep while you wait, that's what i did. Ask for the shot if they don't give it to you. Ahh, but you are different than me, I could not tolerate being awake for anything. I have laughing gas to have my teeth cleaned. I pass out at the drop of a hat, so I am a wake me when it's over person. Knowing I was going to be awake for something would make it totally intolerable for me. when is it again TErri? On the 12th?

hey terri, something to chat about with your doctor while you lay there: I just had a bone density test and the tech asked me when my last period was. I explained that it was 12/99 right after I had the ablation done. So the tech says to me, oh you are in menopause then. and I say no, I am not, as it was from the surgery. and she tells me I am wrong. I could have sworn my gyn had a conversation with me along the lines of, well, since you aren't bleeding any more we will have to monitor symptoms to tell when you reach meno. Or did I just make that up. oh i should probably be posting this on another list, just thought you might be looking for table topics, lol.

thanks

well 12/99 IS over a year ago. But still the bleeding stopped from the burning of the uterine wall not from any natural process. So is that considered meno?

Ouch. Now THAT'S something I wouldn't care for!

It's just a short day surgery. In by 11, out by 5!

Terry you will do wonderful with your surgery. I'm so glad you are feeling better about it, too. And Barbara - we were actually talking about this surgery while you were away a while back, so you didn't just not notice her prob during your probs! You weren't here during the discussion.

I think your ovaries still put out your hormones, but without the endowhatever in your uterus, you don't have periods.

Terri,

Sleep in as late as you can that morning. Then take your time getting

ready to go.

The waiting without coffee would be really tough for me too!!!

We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
