I felt the rate drugs were safer and with less side affects. Unfortunately for me the rate would not cut it. I tried the calcium channel blockers and I had so many ectopics and or PVC's that I stopped counting and accepted them as normal. I had the dose upped a few times but still I had the problem and after a year of NSR but with tons of ectopics I went into afib and then my doctor said lets switched to beta blockers now and maybe it will work better for you. I switched and tried a few drugs here and my ectopics were much less but I could not stay in NSR with the beta blockers. So now DR says Sotalol lets give it a try. I was scared to switch to an antiarrhythmic but I was misserable and not happy with my feeling so tired and fragile all the time. I started Sotalol over 3 months ago and IM NSR since and my PVC's are about so infrequent I might go weeks without one. I have become stronger and have more energy since IM not going in and out of afib. I still have my fragile days and on those I take it easy and maybe even nap a little during the day but the next day I seem to pop back to normal energy wise. Feel free to write me if you have anyother questions? a in Massachusetts 49 NSR Sotalol 80 mg x 2 Warfarin
