Thanks for all the advice, just got back from NYU, spoke to an extremely

nice technician and she explained everything. This is I guess a pre-RAI

scan? She said once they see the results of this they will decide if I need

to receive a larger dosage pill, won't know that until Wednesday. She went

through all the precautions to take.

Thanks again,

You've already gotten some tips about your upcoming scan. You can read

more about members' experiences of their scans and treatments; check out

a few more tips ...

- drink some water before scanning, to clear RAI laden saliva from your

throat

- empty your bladder, not only for comfort, but also to lessen the chance of

misinterpreting radioactive urine for something more ominous

- consider using a laxative or stool softener for a few days before the

scan, for the same reasons as above, and also because hypo constipation is a

common symptom

- empty your pockets (we once had a member who panicked at the sight of mets

to her hips, until she realized that she had put used tissues in her

pockets, and the camera was picking up radioactive

snot)

- relax and try to doze while the camera does all the work

good luck -
