Guest guest
I was diagnosed with A fib about two years ago and underwent cardioversion, ever since then i have been on atenolol and aspirin, i still have episodes of a fib, but these are very short lasting seconds, my question is, what is atrial flutter?, is that what i have? or is it still a fib? I am 46 and was wondering if this is a condition that gets worse over time? and should i consider ablation or is that something that is unnecessary for me. any thoughts would be appreciated Thanks . The difference I feel between the two are, Afib I feel a fluttery feeling in my chest along with a rapid erratic pulse. I usually get very tired and dizzy and will go lie down till it stops. The pulse is very hard to take because of the missed beats or flutters. Aflutter I feel a very rapid but steady beat if I take my pulse. I usually get up and walk around because I get this agitated and nervous feeling. I feel like I drank a lot of coffee (I never drink coffee because it will put me into afib). This feeling will last anywhere from an hour to three usually. If I took my pulse it would be very rapid but steady. Hope this helps you. When you get your small attacks of afib is your pulse erratic and you can feel it stopping and going? If so its small bouts of afib I would assume? a in Massachusetts 49 NSR Sotalol 80x 2 Adult aspirin (starting coumadin this week)
Guest guest
Hi a, Thanks for your reply to my post, from the way you describe a flutter and a fib it sounds like my short episodes are indeed a fib, i must say after having read how long some people go into a fib i feel quite fortunate that mine are not long lasting, i have decided to start a daily log of what i eat and drink to see if there might be any corralation to my episodes of a fib. Thanks . (let us know how you do with the coumadin) > In a message dated 4/4/04 11:42:26 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > pauly572000@y... writes: > I was diagnosed with A fib about two years ago and underwent > cardioversion, ever since then i have been on atenolol and aspirin, > i still have episodes of a fib, but these are very short lasting > seconds, my question is, what is atrial flutter?, is that what i > have? or is it still a fib? > I am 46 and was wondering if this is a condition that gets worse > over time? and should i consider ablation or is that something that > is unnecessary for me. any thoughts would be appreciated > Thanks . > ****************** > Hi , I have Afib/Flutter.
