Logan started on Phenobarb on Jan 12th as a " temporary med " until

things calmed dowm. (dose is 30mg AM and 45 mg HS) He has very little

energy and is very tired all the time. Does anyone have experience

with this med and the diet? weaning info? or anything would help me.

Thanks so much.

Jimmy used to be on Phenobarb (for over a year!!!!). I knew before

going to Hopkins that the first thing they do there is drop and/or

wean Phenobarb because the Diet seems to increase the Phenobarb

levels in the blood. So, we weaned it ahead of time with help from

his neuro.

Phenobarb in and of itself made Jimmy very " zombie-like " , so I can

just about imagine Phenobarb PLUS the diet! We immediately started

to see increased activity from Jimmy when we weaned him from it, and

it had no effect on his amount of seizures, interestingly enough!

Not sure if this helps....just my experience.

Its generally reduced immediatley upon starting the diet cuz its so easy

to go toxic on it on the diet. I would say reduce the pheno or reduce

the ratio a little
