Hi Angie... I have the same nail problems as you... never connected it to thyroid of course...I was very recently dx'd with Hashimoto's and looking back over the years of cycling I know I have had it for at least 3 decades. Unfortunetly for us ladies... doc's prefer to think we are just emotional hypochondriacs. I have been tested for all sorts of autoimmune diseases over the years but no one ever tested for Hashimoto's. In my Medical Ency. its not even mentioned in the auto-immune disorders section.

Now , after reading everyone's horror story, I fear I will be undertreated too unless I get very aggressive with my treatment. But right now I have so many other medical issues to deal with some dx'd, some not that are NOT related to thyroid. Right now I am on 100mcg of thyroid and I have noticed quite a bit of improvement.

Re: Nails

you know, i never even noticed until i read this- i dont have moons either. i have a couple of nails with a hint of a spot of a moon left, rest have none. wow lol. i have good nails, long, grow with no troubles, but i do have ridges too. also have 2 that started growing downward, like they want to curl. if you guys have that too, they sell nail straightener at beauty supply store, you can use it as a base coat and it helps. also, does anyone have a hard time with their cuticles? as good as my nais may be, my cuticles are just nasty. they just grow and grow, and get thick, you know? its embarassing to get a manicure as it takes like 20 minutes to get it all out of there :(any ideas on the cuticles? tried lotions and oils, and cutting exposure to really hot water, doesnt help. it is totally thyroid related.>> Diseases that show up in your fingernails> Our fingernails are a window to our bodies' health. LOL, enjoy it. I have the cuticles from h*ll. They

crack and split and they hurt when they do. I also

get a lot of hang nails. I've got one now on my right

ring finger that is driving me nuts and I don't have

my cuticle clippers to get to it to cut it. I walked

out of the house without my bag and now I'm paranoid

as heck something is going to happen and I'll need my

license or wallet for something before I can get back

home, which is almost 25 miles away.

I only have half moons on the thumb nails, with a slight hint on both index fingers, but none on any of the other nails, for the last many yrs, at least when I started noticing them. Former hyper from Hashi's? I never was tested for Grave's.

Re: Re: Nails

Another big tell, kat..... half moons gone on the fingers are hyper... I lost all of mine years before I went into storm...

They still haven't come back.
