Thanks Nita and Nan for your replies....Between my

water retention, crampiness, and moodiness, I feel

like I'm PMS'ing all the time! I don't know what to

expect day to day. I wonder if, due to having the

thyroid antibodies, if my hormone levels fluctuate all

the time? According to my Endo, since my TSH is

currently " normal " , none of what I'm experiencing is

related to the Hashimotos. Other than hunt for another

doctor, I don't know what to do to help myself!

It's so great to be able to talk with everyone and you

understand. What we're experiencing is not in our

heads!

:o)

'Normal' TSH with Hashi's doesnt' make it... it's better to have your TSH suppressed.. depending on which lab values your doc/lab uses, the current goes up to 3.0, the ole to 5.... you're TSH could be waaaayyyy to high to feel well.... You want to get it well under 1.0.....

Do you happen to know what your last labs were? It's even more important to have your thyroid hormone levels up.... so those should be tested too...

.... I know... I'm as repetitive as a broken record with this stuff.... but its that important.

Which tests did the doc run? I'd like to take a peek if you have copies of your labs....

We've learned that with Hashi's you will save a lot of misery if you get on it right away and don't wait for the symptoms to get worse. You might have to go searching for a doc that knows enough about thyroid diagnosis and care to get on this for you.....

.... you might have caught my happy dancing this morning about clearing the snow off the deck? The reason that my body got so messed up and I'm so elated about getting better, was because I spend FAR too many years dealing with docs that didn't care about my symptoms and didn't give me the replacement hormone that I needed... I ended up on crutches and in chronic pain.... all that is gone now... cuz I have my hormone levels up where they need to be.... and I'm still tweaking to work on seeing if I can get more improvement....

....and in my case I wasn't even dealing with the ebb and flow Hashi's.... I had NO thyroid function after receiving RAI to kill off my thyroid gland.... and they still couldn't even get me dosed correctly.....

Now... I know better... if the doc that you are working with listen, or doesn't listen, to your symptoms and just gives you this 'wait and see' or 'it's not bad enough yet' it's time to cut your losses and find a doc that knows his (or her) job.

Just my two cents....

As for the water retention... that could be from a couple of different things.... It can be pretty uncomfortable.... I think I'd push for getting the thyroid stuff on the right track and see if that handles the water retention..... Are you drinking plenty of water every day to help your body keep things moving? If we don't drink enough WATER, our bodies can retain water due to that... and if you add a diuretic to that it can make it worse.....

There is nothing that you can bring up here that is TMI (too much information)... unless we start talking positions or the number of partners!!! ( you can talk to me off list... I'm single.... Ooops, I didn't say that out loud, did I??) hehehehehehehe But, seriously, relating your symptoms and experiences to us helps us to better understand what is going on... gives us a clearer picture, and allows for a better chance of someone being able to jump in with their experience on that particular subject....

We do have a few guys here.... so if you need to get into female type stuff... give a spoiler so that they guys can bail!!!! hehehehehe Right guys!?!?!?

Hi everyone,I have Hashimotos - my TSH is still in the "normal"range and my Endo won't treat me yet....I've noticedthat some of you say you're experiencing "puffiness"in your face...I'm having this problem too. My glandsseem to be swelling a lot (especially in the morningand/or when I feel really fatigued) and they hurt -the glands in my neck along my jawline. I'm also retaining water all the time! Especiallyright before my period, but all thetime...particularly in my breasts (sorry if too muchinfo). It's frustrating because it's uncomfortable.:o( I even started taking over-the-counter water pillsa few days ago and they don't seem to be helping. Isanyone having a similar experience with the waterretention and/or do you have any thoughts/advice?Thanks so much everyone! It's so nice to know thatthere are people who won't say this is all in my head.:o)
