Of course, just because we have MA's doesn't mean we DON'T have other fertility issues!!! Meaning, we have as many fertility issues on top of the MA as those who don't have MAs... several women here have PCOS and immune problems... Since you've had early m/c, I'd definitely push for a definite diagnosis to see if you have SU, also get tested for luteal phase defect to see if there is a progesterone deficit in early pregnancy, as well as testing for autoimmune disorders. Then you'll know if/what treatment will help... You can also start charting your cycles to see if you are ovulating every month. If you have irregular periods especially, the herbal product Vitex taken the last 2 weeks of each cycle can be really helpful in normalizing hormone levels... hope this helps! hugs Mikki 38, BU/SU, DD 10/25/04, DS 8/5/04, 35 weeks pg with twin boys

Guest guest
Hi Cecilia, I am not pregnant yet (SU resected in March) but have recently started on fertility drugs - NOT due to my MA though - and I have never been pregnant, after 2-1/2 years of trying. Bloodwork found my progesterone is low (so I take progesterone suppositories the last two weeks of my cycle), plus it's not clear whether my eggs have been maturing and releasing properly (possible LPD), and I have had a couple of weird cycles lately where I probably didn't ovulate. All that led us to decide I should take a low-dose fertility drug and do u/s monitoring - at least that way I would have the assurance of knowing whether I was actually ovulating each month. I was on clomid about a year ago before we discovered I was SU & had the surgery. It dried up my cervical fluid too much - my RE didn't want to put me on it again. So, he's put me on a similar drug, called tamoxifen, which has better side effects - it's actually supposed to help increase the lining of the uterus & the quality of the cervical fluid. I went in for an u/s (follicle check) on day 2 and again on day 12 - had one egg ready to go - got an hcg shot which caused the egg to release in the next 24-36 hours, and was told to go home and BD the next three nights! So, we'll see if it did the trick this month! :-) I don't think egg quality is releated to MA's - probably more so to whether we're ovulating properly, have enough of the right hormones, etc. etc. Insemination would be worth considering if your DH's sperm count were low or you've not had success with other procedures. And w/ insemination, I believe they will put you on a fertility drug like clomid or tamoxifen to make sure your eggs are developing and ready to go. Best wishes to you, Sandy, 31 SU resected 3/04 ttc #

Guest guest
, Mikki, Kimbery, and Sandy, Thanks for all your input. It helps. Mikki, we've done all the tests both for DH and myself. , I'm on folic acid and asprin as well for a heterozygous MTHFR gene (may or may not have caused my m/c). Your input gives me some idea, and I thank you for it! It confirmes some things I have talked to my doctor about and what I've been thinking lately. We'll see what we'll do in the next few months. Mikki, the herbal remedy sounds like a good idea, too. Protocol question: when people post " ttc # 1 " , does that mean ttc first pregnancy ever, or does it mean ttc first baby ever born? So I'm I ttc# 1 or #4 in that case :-) ... sorry for this not so relevant question, I'm just trying to clarify... Cecilia, 35, BU 3 m/c, ttc #1 or #4??? > > Hi Cecilia, > I am not pregnant yet (SU resected in March) but have recently > started on fertility drugs - NOT due to my MA though - and I have > never been pregnant, after 2-1/2 years of trying.
