I know what you mean here too....I only go for about 30 mins, but it seems

that 30 mins and the drive just throws me so off track w/my homework.

I have had to learn the hard way that no one will put my needs first

if I don't. But, from now on everyone else will be in line....

Thanks for the info. I will try the grapes for brain food next

semester.

I was also told by a psychology professor in the past, not to eat

candy or anything high in sugar right before a test because it would

actually impair my thinking. That is, the sugar rush would affect my

critical thinking skills.

I don't eat a snickers right before a test anymore, which is

actually good for my hips and test scores now!

regarding your volunteerism... some people just love to take

advantage of others and it seems like that person was trying to do

that to you. I would have eaten the cookies too considering all you

have been going through with your studying. I hope you make out ok

on your finals.. sounds to me like you should ace them with all your

studying. Kudos for getting to the gym too .. two times a day would

be too much for you so at least you got there - things will fall

I am back home this morning until Sunday then off again for another

wk. Just taking a moment to say Hi to all the new Members. I see

there are a few new names in the last wk or so. Congrats to all the

great losers here.

I will be going for my WI later this morning. Hoping for a good one.

I've been so neglectful of checking my e-mails lately that I was in for a big

surprise when I did.

It is amazing at the new members that we have. I remember my first e-mail. I

was nervous about seeming intrusive. I suppose it is a southern thing. I

want to welcome all the new members and assure them that this will be the most

comforting and informative place for discussion of IGA.

Although I have been around (Although recently absent) I still have

questions.

So here goes. Last year was not the most pleasant year as far as health was

concerned. Kidney infections, bladder infections and a hysterectomy etc. etc.

etc. Anyway, I had been feeling so much better until recently. When that

familiar nausua returned. Followed by loss of appetite (which can be

beneficial)

OK here is the really odd part. I get a chemical taste in my mouth after I

do eat.

After last year I have developed a real aversion to Docs. How long is it

safe to go with a decreased urine output? I hear audible gasp. Maybe safe is

not the word I am looking for more like before it gets critical.

Hi ,

Are you on an ACE inhibitor or similar drug at present? These can sometimes

cause what is usually described as a metallic taste. It's hard to say what

that is exactly, but I did experience it myself when I was on an ACE

inhibitor. There are some other medications that I swear I can taste after

I've taken them.

Decreased urine output is kind of subjective and can be misleading. It

depends on how decreased, and what your kidney function is. If you are

really not putting out as much urine as you need to, you would be retaining

water, and you will generally see it on your ankles during the day, plus you

might feel some shortness of breath at night when lying down as the fluid

pools around your lungs and in your abdomen. A person can have some mild

" volume overload " which doesn't have obvious symptoms, but there's really no

way to see that for yourself. A doctor can generally tell just by examining

the arteries in your neck. Mild fluid retention is not a big emergency or

anything, but I think it would be wise to see a doctor about it if you think

you may have it. It eventually can put a strain on your heart.

Decreased urine output may also simply be because you're doing well

following your low sodium diet, and you're therefore not getting as thirsty.

Less thirst = less fluid intake = less urine output.

One tip: rub in to your husband every day that you are a better painter than he

is (us guys love that). Kidding. But it's good exercise, and it brings back

Karate Kid memories (Paint o fence). Enjoy painting your new house, and say hi

when you can!

Hi Everyone!

I just thought I'd drop a little note and let everyone know that I haven't disappeared for good! LOL Jeff and I have been working on the house every night ... and probably will be for a while. It's really interesting to work all day and then put in 4 or 5 hours doing hard labor in the evenings! lol It's going a little slower that I'd like because the woodwork is SO dark it's taking two coats of primer all over. I've discovered that I'm a much better painter then Jeff is ~ he doesn't seem to have the patience! lol But, he's doing more than his fair share of the work. Jeff has taken down all the molding in the house and the bedroom ceiling tiles. It's a construction zone over there! lol But, it's great to be doing all this work knowing that it's OUR house!

So, please know that I'm trying to keep up with the posts, but I just don't have the time to individually answer them. As always, I'm keeping you guys in my heart and in my prayers! I'm hoping to have some free time soon ... maybe! :)

Hi Tonya,

I am sorry you are not feeling well! But, I guess the pace you have been

keeping catches up with you. You must be so run down with managing everything

on

your plate between school and work and your family.

Hang in there a few more weeks though; the finish line is in sight :-)
