No need to spend the whole day unless you just love hospitals :-). ellen -- mailto:ellen@...

It'll probably take just a day or two to get the results to your doc (my lab took a bit longer for the TG test). Something I've done is to ask the doctor to put on the lab slip to send a copy directly to me, as well as to him. Don't know that all labs will do this, but it ensures that you get a copy. And for the TSH, TG, TgAb, & calcium tests (I'm not sure what the " beta something " one is) , it makes no difference when you've eaten last. It will for getting your scan dose, though, so check with the folks at the nuc med dept. They usually want you to not have eaten for a time before the doses, but how long varies from doctor to doctor. We'll close our eyes and think " 30 " for your TSH :-). Guest guest
MB: Your blood tests should only take about 5 minutes. They draw a couple of tubes of blood, send them to the lab and the results should be back 24-48 hrs. later. Cheers, Jim blood tests Quick question - sorta. I'm kinda hypo. I go for initial blood tests (first since surgery - for RAI) tomorrow. They include TG, TSH levels, Beta something. Does anyone know how long it takes to do this? Are we talking walking in and getting a few vials of blood drawn, or is it more extensive where one test is taken, I wait on results for an additional test, and the entire day is taken up. I know I should have asked my doc about it, but just thought about it this evening when my husband reminded me. Thanks for your help. mb

Guest guest
OH that test!!! It is standard procedure at my hospital to do a pregnancy test before RAI. I had my tubes tied years ago, and need to remind them everytime that I don't need the pg test. Best wishes, Lynn in NY

Guest guest
Beta HCG is a pregnancy test ? Cause sure as anything that's what's on my script. And with everything I've been through, they've continuously asked me about the possibility of being pregnant. (I'm 46, husband got neutered/spayed, whichever one that is). Curious as to why I need to pay for a test that's obviously unnecessary. And ka-ching goes the cash register once again. Thanks for the info. I'll be taking care of this one when I see the vampires today. mb Re: blood tests > Quick question - sorta. I'm kinda hypo. I go for initial blood > tests (first since surgery - for RAI) tomorrow.
