Guest guest
April, I saw on a site a sugar called something like " diabetica " - now I can't find what site I saw it on. Ever heard of it? It sounded good. I used to use Splenda until I read all the bad things about it. Don't remember specifics but the chemicals in it do you some harm long term. However, when you are diabetic, these things are sometimes inevitable. Are " natural organic sugars " any better than refined? (as far as how they will affect BS) - I eat many organic crackers etc and some have organic natural cane sugar. Just curious about it. Sandy Re: Introduction Splenda and Stevia are great for blood sugar! I know several people who use Stevia. I use Splenda religiously and have NEVER had my blood sugar increase because of it. Do NOT buy the other stuff. Fructose is still sugar by any other name. It will drive up your blood sugars. Nuts are better for your blood sugar than beans and they pack a great nutritional punch :-) April in GA

Guest guest
I have known people using Splenda since it came on the market several years ago and they are fine. I have been using Splenda for years without any side effects. Sometimes you need to let go of the " studies " and go with what does your body right. If you use it and it makes you feel " funny " then stop using it. Guest guest
Splenda is for both cooking and for instant use. Pure sucralose (Splenda) is much sweeter than sugar, so the manufacturers put " fillers " in the powdered splenda. This will make its usage equal to that of sugar and gives some bulk to cooking items like sugar. I use liquid concentrated Splenda which is free of the bulking agents, but it is not readily available in the US. Guest guest
Hi Darlene, Your friend is incorrect about the chemical sweeteners. Splenda for example, is better than aspartame or sucralose, in a heartbeat. Splenda is extracted from suger, and behaves like sugar, except that its no where near as high in " sugars " - and to my way of thinking, its so much better than aspartame etc. I have a small handful of plain almonds as a snack, quite often. Yea, try introducing the beans in small quantities, although I admit, I dont eat them either. The stevia directly from the herb, is finely ground green leaves, and to me, doesnt taste as good as Splenda - there is however, a processed Stevia which is white and much higher in sugars. mary R Re: Introduction Thank you . I have been getting rid of about all the white food and reading labels and getting rid of a lot of stuff I have. I do still have some white flour and sugar, but I have bought wheat flour and Stevia to replace. Does anyone use the Stevia on this list? I have a friend who has had diabetes for several years and she has told me that I cannot use Stevia, Agave, or Splenda, only the chemical sweeteners. From what I have understood, Stevia is an herb and does not raise blood sugar. The Agave is a low glycemic index fructose. I would prefer them to the Sweet and Low and Aspartame. I have noticed many people talking about beans. I cannot eat them or will end up sick for at least 2 days. I have seen nuts listed under legumes. Are most of them okay to eat?
