Did you do the intro the last four days or three weeks ago when it started? Do you mean that he had the loose stool after the nut yogurt? How much cashew nut yogurt did you give him? Sometimes after the intro foods need to be slowly reintroduced because the system is still sensitive. > I am so frustrated. For some people it takes a really long time before they can tolerate peas, beans and lentils. They have more complex carbs in them (hence the soaking and cooking etc.) > He doesn't seem to be able to tolerate goat yogurt either. > > About a month and a half ago we stopped all supplements (enzymes, > etc...) and he was only getting Cod Liver Oil (legal). His behavior > has been WONDERFUL, he is so calm, and so talkative. I was so > happy... now I feel we are 2 steps back with his BM problems. How has his behaviour been since the onset of the loose stool. It is a good sign that he is only having one of these a day. It is possible that it it is further die-off that some kids go through periodically in their first year or so of being on the diet. If that's what it is the good news is that once the stool clears up again (and most have to go back to the intro for a while and re-introduce foods until the bad guys clear all out) there is a push forward in behaviours etc. improving. By answering the above questions it'll help better indicate what is going on. Sheila 46 mos SCD, 20 yrs UC mom of SCD 31 mos

Yesterday when he was at the potty and had the liquidy BM, I was about to cry, and he told me " look at the pretty flowers (the wall paper!) > It is possible that it it is further die-off that some kids go > through periodically in their first year or so of being on the > diet. Now, THIS IS WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR!!!! Is it typical to get this bouts without apparently no reason? He is still getting better. Not worse, right? I have a lot of pressure over here on giving him rice, water from boing rice. Medication. I was thinking about taking him to the doctor, but I know what the doctor will say about his diet!!!!!!!!!!! He wants to eat > every 2 hours or less. That was probably too much yogurt after just doing the intro - which in turn caused a bunch more die-off. If possible it is better to gradually re-introduce foods especially if the child has had the flu or had to redo the intro etc. Think of it this way, you've had the flu and haven't been able to keep down any food. You'll start with soup and fluids and gradually work up to more complex foods - you aren't likely to have a bowl of chili the day after the flu. His system seems to still be pretty sensitive; which is pretty normal in the first year on the diet. So for him you're probably better off going slower reintroducing food. > > > How has his behaviour been since the onset of the loose stool. > > His behavior is wonderful, he seems so more aware of the > environment. With increased improvement in behaviour I am even more likely to go with the further die-off scenario. > > It is possible that it it is further die-off that some kids go > > through periodically in their first year or so of being on the > > diet. > > Now, THIS IS WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR!!!! You may not have to go back to the intro but I definitely ease up on the yogurt somewhat until you find the level he is okay with. If he isn't eating it now just hold off a bit longer and then slowly introduce it again starting with a teaspoon and skip a day. If he does fine with that gradually build up again. Epsom salt baths may help too. Probably a good idea to skip the dried lentil, beans for at least a month or more. The increased appetitie is a good sign. Guest guest
Going back in memory my son had a cookie on November 20... We were at a party, and he was very excited, but we really didn't see any " adverse effects " . I mentioned before that is behavior has been great since we took the supplements out. Diarrhea came about 3 days later. Could it be related to that incident of eating illegal food? Coral
