We have endured complaints about misleading information from a key figure at CP for a long time and now that there is a viable alternative source feel no need to be held hostage by such inappropriate behavior. I personally addressed several complaints about incorrect advice being given to SCDers several times in the past year and suggest that rather than making conjecture, you have concrete information before voicing suppositions. Other diets sell products and there are people with big financial interests in promoting the product sales. The only thing you need for SCD is the book and even that can be purchased used or is available in public libraries. Carol F.

" I have no intention of censoring you. You are free to say what you like, but you are wrong. I do not own, nor do I have any financial interest in GI ProHealth, Kirkman Labs, Houston Nutraceuticals or any other company that makes products that are SCD legal. Actually I have no financial interest in anything as I don't have enough money to make investments of any sort. Elaine does not own or have financial interest in GI ProHealth either. We have had complaints about CP for quite some time. And CP was only recommended for less than 2 years -- not many, many as you proclaimed. Pecanbread.com in its current format has only been online for 16 months. Before that, the only thing that was recommended to make goat yogurt was to use goat yogurt from a farm that no longer sells yogurt to the public. Before that people used a cow-based yogurt starter or just didn't make yogurt. As for your claims that you can buy the same products that GI ProHealth sells for less, I highly doubt that as I know of no other company that is selling DAIRY FREE yogurt starter other than CP. If you know of one, please let me know. As for other places selling L. Acidophilus for less, that is a possibility, but will those other places GUARANTEE that their product is completely dairy free? Nature's Life makes a dairy free probiotic, but stores were not keeping it refrigerated. So, I removed it as well. Not because the product was bad, but the handling of the product was not keeping it viable. Anyway, you are barking up the wrong tree. As I said before, I made no statement about the quality of CP products, only that the ongoing hassling of SCDers was what brought me to the decision to remove CP from the website. And as far as limited products go-- the only things recommended to get from CP was the L. Acidophilus and the yogurt starter. Those are the exact two things that GI ProHealth sells. What other choices do there need to be? None of the other CP products were SCD legal. Jody mom to -6 and -8 SCD 23 months

That would be Yogourmet that comes in little packets. Progurt comes in a bottle. You use a measuring spoon to measure out the appropriate amount of starter for each batch of yogurt. Here is a cost breakdown of Progurt - CP starter - Yogourmet One $30 bottle of Progurt Yogurt starter makes 120 quarts of yogurt. Making the starter cost 25 cents per quart. One $40 bottle of Custom Probiotics starter makes 125 quarts of yogurt. Making the starter cost 32 cents per quart. One $3.95 box of Yogourment Starter makes 6 quarts of yogurt. Making the starter cost 65 cents per quart. If you buy it in bulk at $3.25 per box, the starter costs 54 cents per quart. Actually, the main reason they were removed from the site was that the kids were getting sick using CP stuff. People would call looking for the plain acidophilus and he'd talk them into trying something else. It isn't fair for those who use the website as a guide (including the adult SCD lists) if we recommend a site that not only goes against Elaine recommendations, but also causes harm. After much deliberation, the only choice was to remove him from our list. We cannot list his products if he goes against the SCD recommendations. CP does not have to live with the consequences, the families on this list and the other SCD lists do. The other reasons you listed above didn't help but the hands down reason was that SCD kids and adults were getting sick. Of course, If someone wants to continue to use CP products they are as always free to do so. We still recommend that people stick with only Lactobacillus acidophilus(and no illegals) in a probiotic supplement. But we won't endorse him any more for the above mentioned reasons > I'M WILLING TO BET MY LIFE THAT THIS BRAND NEW COMPANY IS OWNED BY SOMEONE ON THIS BOARD!!! >MODERATORS- Please don't censor me, even if this new company belongs to you. Bifidus is illegal, right? 1)WHY is it illegal?? 2)Don't ALL yogurt starters contain Bifidus bacteria??] I'm not saying you or anyone else is lying, but I know women can get clique-y and begin to exaggerate on their truths when too many of them get together (I am generalizing, and not referring to any one inparticular). I have seen this even here; like minded women band together and adopt a seperationist us vs them type mentality--- I call it The Oprah Syndrome. I personally have never had problems with CP products (which I have been using for some time before I put my son on the SCD) and Harry has never tried to sell me something I didn't want.
