Zithromax and Vioxx instead of Minocin

Hi Ana:

I've been on the antibiotic protocol for 4 years now with very good results

<90%+ remission of swelling and pain>. I have taken Minocycline

<the generic of Minocin> for four years and Zithromax for two years.

I've got two points to make in responding.

1) Zithromax is not a replacement for Minocin or Minocycline. Zithromax

works quite differently from Minocin. Minocin is the primary antibiotic

recommended for RA; Zithromax is a secondary antibiotic and attacks

different mycoplasmas. If you are allergic to Minocin, please try another

tetracycline drug because it is the tetracycline drugs that are the first

line of defense against RA <according to The Road Back and other books

about Dr Brown>. The recommended replacement for Minocin or

Minocycline is Doxycycline because it is another tetracycline type drug.

2) Vioxx can have bad side affects. IF you are having and trouble

breathing since being on Vioxx, please stop taking the drug. We have

two acquaintences who were taking Vioxx and had some of the side

effects you did, and both had shortness of breath. Since shortness of

breath is heart related, both stopped taking Vioxx.

Email me direct with any questions. Better health, Al

Subject: Question

Group,

I haven't posted in a while - I've had such good months this past summer up

until now - that of course, I read everything but didn't have much to

ask.......UNTIL now......I've been on daily Vioxx for about a year and a

half, alternating between 25mgs and 12.5 mgs .......About 10 days ago, I

noticed that by the end of the day, my ankles were swelling very visibly

-also developed a rash or hives (can't tell for sure), around my waist. AND

I have also gained about 15 pounds in the last 3 months, without having any

reason to.......Has anybody else experienced these symptoms.

I read the very small print on the leaflet I get when I buy Vioxx, and those

symptoms are one of the possible side effects - but I never had this before.

I was taking Minocin for 1.5 years, but was taken off by my doc when I

developed a reaction to it - so I've been on 250mgs Zythromax 3x per week for

6 months now.

Any and all input will be greatly appreciated.
