Guest guest
It's been awhile since I've posted. Hello to you all. Situation: There are 4 kids, including my daughter, going into Middle School (7th Grade) next school year. We know they will not beable to keep up with the Reg. Ed English/Language class. We have a teacher of the Hearing Impaired who has been their teacher throughout Elementary School (they get pulled out for Spec. ED) and an Interpreter to follow them to all of the classes. What would be the best way to approach the IEP? School Admin? Should we write into the IEP for the H.I. teacher to teach them exclusively for Language Arts?? And as far as High School credits (in a few years) can they get credits from the H.I. teacher in lieu of a Reg. Ed class. Do we, as parents, have it written into the IEP or does the school have to approve or something. If I haven't expressed myself well, let me know and I'll try to clarify. Any help in this direction appreciated.
Guest guest
If the youngsters read fairly well you might consider real time captioning for those classes that are language intensive. CART or Typewell would be two options and it would be cost effective for the district since there are four kids using it. Vern
