I would also love hearing tips other than the obvious, eat less/eat

healthy/exercise - my doctor says it will be " easy " to lose the

weight once I actually have a functioning metabolism. Hope this is

true, I think I am up about 8 pounds too.

I gained about 10 lbs in all while being off of my meds and waiting

for my radiation treatment. My face, hands, and feet were very

puffy from water. After my treatment was done, my doctor perscribed

some water pills. I lost about five lbs. in one day just from going

to the bathroom. Maybe you have the same problem.

Asprin and ibuprofin (Advil is ibuprofin) shouldn't be taken for 2

weeks before surgery because of the blood thinning issues, and some

herbs also can be a problem. Further info on herbs is here:

While SOME vitamins are a problem, others (like Vitamin C, Iron,

Calcium), may actually benefit you.

Unlike Doris, I was NOT told to discontinue multi-vitamins, which

tells you that different doctors have different instructions - and

some may have to do with your particular situation.

So, bottom line - call your surgeon's office - tell them EXACTLY what

you take (herbs, vitamins, prescription AND otc medication), and ask

which you should discontinue and for how long. Ask if there are any

vitamins you should take more of.

Cheers,

Alisa

What were your eating habits like before you started IE?It is incredibly common for people to gain weight when they start IE, especially if they had been restricting calories or food choices before they started.

I know it's really scary, but try to trust the process. Your body has to learn that you will listen to it, and feed it when it's hungry. As you do this consistently, I think you will find that you are able to eat less, and to eat a wide variety of foods, some formerly classified as " healthy, " and some not.

But many of us gain weight in the initial " legalizing " process. You may have damaged your metabolism from dieting in the past, or damaged your soul by restricting food choices. These injuries take a while to heal.

I know it's hard and so scary! Keep posting and asking for support. I think we've all been there! I know I have.Best,

I've been at this since Jan 1, and I've gained a considerable amount of weight. jeans that were looser on me are now tight. I'm worried that I have gained too much weight and I miss being small. I'm not really sure what my question is, but just wondering what others experienced. I've only been this large one time, and that was when I had serious depression issues. I don't want to go on a diet, but at the same time, i'm not sure if I can continue intuitively without thinking about my weight.
