Guest guest
Dear Allicia, I went to the dentist last week and he told me I have T.M.J. problems (Myofacial Pain Syndrome.). This involves the jaw joints and can cause chronic migraines, neck, shoulder, back and leg pain etc. His idea is to make up a splint that I would wear at night to relieve some of the pressure in my jaw. I mentioned that I believe I also have chronic Lyme. He asked if I ever had whiplash from a car accident. I did have this earlier this year, but recovered well. He pressed his fingers into various points in my mouth, jaw, shoulders etc. It all hurt. He told me to look up on a Google search, "Dental Distress Syndrome." Meanwhile, as I am on a pension, he told me to by a sports mouth guard from the chemist and to try sleeping with this in for a while to see if there is any improvement. Your friend may have this problem and may need help from a knowledgable dentist. But my gut feeling is that she may have a systemic problem like chronic Lyme or mycoplasma infection. My best friend a also suffers from Myofacial pain Syndrome and Fibro. She is really battling severe pain and has O.D'd twice. She has recently been to a new dentist who is making a special plate which, hopefully will alter the pressure in her jaw and bring some relief. She has a permanent migraine since a car accident some years ago. She has been in a wheelchair and uses a walking stick because of the pain. She even became an alcoholic because of all her suffering. It would be good if your friend could read some of our posts, particularly the ones who have got well on the A.P. It would also be good for her to know that there are many of us who are battling with these issues and getting such wonderful support. Can you lend her a copy of "The New Arthritis Breakthrough," by Henry Scammell. Can you show her Garth Nicholson's research? www.immed.org Garth Nicholson has some wonderful stuff on the incedence of infection in Fibromyalgia patients. It sounds like she needs to get a doctor who is up to date on all of these things and will show her some respect and give her hope. Good luck, Rosemary. rheumatic Serious Help Please!!! OK gang, I am in need of some serious help here. I ran across a very distraught lady in my FMS/CFS support group tonight. I gave her this link to our group I hope she joins it...she really needs tons of help. She has FMS and myofascial pain syndrome. Do any of you have this or have any information on this. I told her I was going to help her in anyway possible... At the beginning of our conversation she said that she wanted to kill herself everyday that she wakes up...but however, by the end of our conversation she said she would talk to me later tonight possible 2-morrow sometime....She said she smiled for the 1st time in two months...which made me feel tons better, and I could tell by the things she said she was somewhat cheered up. I feel much better about the situation, but I promised her a new friend and promised I would try to get as much information on the Myofacial thingy.... She can't walk...I do not know her age...nor do I know where she lives, she does not feel comfy giving that to me yet, which is fine I will respect that, but I do not let down my promises so please I am begging you don't let me down. I need all the information, book titles, anything ....let me know. I am going to help her if its the last thing I do. Her rheumy told her that FMS is nothing but a mental disease and had her believing she is crazy more or less....and that there is nothing for her to do but die...and we all know that if we believe something long enough its going to happen...*( I am going to try to get her to go to a doc again. She says that soo many docs have screwed her over she will never go again, but by the end of our converstation she made an agreement with me that she would call her doc 2-morrow and get an appt. made to get her anti-depressants changed and increased slowly. so that is a step. Please let me know anything that may help...Thanking you ahead of time, Allicia To unsubscribe, email: rheumatic-unsubscribeegroups
