So I would scoop them up and off we'd go to the potty. I only had to scoop off to the potty once or twice for her to figure it out. For Ian it took a while. And after the unfortunate flu/diarrhea incident he woul hide behind furniture so I couldn't see him. I knew what was going on, but was trying not to frighten or traumatize him. So I'd wait until he was done and ask if he needed to change his Pull-up, no anger or reprimand, just the question of getting him clean. Sometimes as I gave him the new Pull-up I'd talk about how much fun I'd had as a kid with my Lincoln Logs (his goal/prize). Eventually he went to poop on the potty on his own. But he was ready to be potty trained and knew exactly what was going on and how to control it. He'd hold it while we were out shopping until he could get to our livingroom and get behind the couch. The key to training is the kid being ready. When I was little (1960) they made high chairs with potty seats built into them. The moms would set the kid bare-bottomed in the chair and feed them, then applaud when the kid used the chair. That's how mine potty trained me ... completely trained by 18 months, and I have my baby book to prove it. My mom was so proud, you should see the exclamation points after that entry. No wonder I am such a control freak, LOL. There is no way I would have done that with my kids. Best of luck. Jill
