Don't ever apologize for saying what is on your mind to me cause itis what I need to have the gumsion to do this stuff someone behind me with a cattle prod. Well I called the insurance co. and they basically told me to find another Doc they don't want to be paying a Doc that is not helping me.They are sending me a booklet with Docs in their Network ones that a participating Docs and also Endos. She is also sending me a video of how to let the Dr that you want to be part of all decisions and how to talk to them that they will get it that it is your body and you will make all the decisions about it. She also gave me a website from the insurance company on different diseases and things that I can go look at it explains the illness she told me there is a good page on hashi if you want the addy i can give it to you see what you think. We have highmark blue shield. But she did tell me to get a DR that will put me on med right away cause they don't think he should let this go till it gets bad enough they have to take out my thyroid and well neither do I. So PLEASE TOPPER & WENDY DON"T STOP telling me like it is I want you to it is what I need from both of you don't worry about hwo it sounds I want it honest and direct ....OK ? well I will let you go now I have written a book now...LOL Tinatopper2@... wrote: You know, I think, that I have an attitude about docs..so take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt... but consider something for just a sec.... Docs work for us. Their job is to work with us to improve our health, to makes us as healthy as we can be. If you feel like crap, and the doc is saying it looks okay to me, see ya later.... is he doing his job? Here's my opinion.... if you feel like crap and the doc is saying, for all intents and purposes, that it's of no concern, see ya later.... he ain't doing his job. The reason that I get so angry about this is that I did the same thing... the doc told me nothing was wrong and told me to go home.. but there was something wrong.... The BIG problem was that I grew up thinking that docs knew everything and never make mistakes you just shut up and kiss their toes and run out the door...... But there was something wrong with me.... I was an extreme, not everyone deals with what I ended up with (a genetic mess) but my walking away that day almost cost me my life. And I ended up sitting in a hallway 10 months later being told that I had to sign away all my rights in order to be given radiation and that if I didn't I would die....... If you KNOW something is wrong, and the doc you are seeing keeps saying it's okay.... it's time to find another doc... One that will listen. Maybe the next doc will find that nothing is wrong with your thyroid, maybe it's something else... but either way you will KNOW. I'm getting preachy... so it's time to be quiet.... See this is what bothers me everyone tells me I should be on medication and the Doc says no I don't need it cause my fT4 and Tsh were ok by his standards. I just want to feel better not so foggy brained and cold and tired all the time like I just ran a marathon. I don't understand what he is thinking but he is sending me for a sleep study, cause I do have to use sleeping pills to sleep and even then they take hours to work , once again I took my pill at 8 last night and was awake till 3 AM before I even had a hint of being tired. This just sucks I want me back. Tina Tina JJOIPPKOOUNUJOP'IUJK0--9UTINA MK-099-99\OP'[-0 I]9IKI099 U[ Yahoo! FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click. Guest guest
You just made my day, Tina.... not only that you got motivated and fired up.. .but to hear that an insurance company says to find a doc that will do the job before it becomes a major problem.. that is just soooo cooooooool!!!!! You just have to keep us posted on how it goes.... the finding the new doc process. the whole deal..... skipping (in my mind) and singing the happy happy joy joy song!!! I have to give the other side, the positive side of docs.. not all the docs that I've dealt with have been bad... my diagnosis was done on sight by and orthopedist who had me heading to the hospital so that when the labs came back I'd already be there, to save that amount of time.... The endo that worked with me after my RAI was extremely thorough... spending time walking WITH me before exams.. her only draw back was that she was a Synthroid doc... she knew so much about thyroid care and taught me a lot... but I'll be that if she had put me on natural that I wouldn't have ended up in the bottom of the hole.... She spent time with me to discuss symptoms and how I felt.. that was soo neat... Anyway... I just had to say that... to be fair, to give voice to the docs that ARE good. Guest guest
Was I wrong? In a previous post, I thought you said that your endo advised treatment for euthyroid Hashi's. Am I confuses about this, or is this another endo? Re: Hashimoto thyroditis disease Oh well he says not he told me all I need to do is change my diet and have it monitored . I know this has me so mad but I feel like he is holding all the cards. I don't know what to do where to start.I am just really at my wits end cause I myself knew I needed treament when this first started about a year ago but no one will listen cause the popular Endo here in town I don't need treatment. This all just has me scared of what can happen if it is not treated soon. I just spoke to my hubby on the Phone and he said now will you please call the Insurance company and tell them everything and have them override him and send you for what ever test you need I want my wife back. So I guess i will try that. I have done so much reading about this I think at times I know more about it then the Docs in town . Guest guest
One thing we have to learn here is that, generally speaking, MOST endos go by the rigid # principals, i.e., $ynthroid (perks from Big Pharma) and the lab #s. They don't seem to care that the official #s have changed, and, even at that, that the thyroid hormones are the ones that count. However, there are a few endos around who risk their careers to say differently. This is why I don't mention their names here. That would include PCPs, internal med specialists, some gynos, general practitioners, family physicians, and others. If they go out of the Mainstream standards, they do risk being drug up in front of their state boards for thinking out of this box. Kind of reminds me of Naziism. It is so sad.
