Hi Topper,

My doc took alot of test and I can get the results from the doc I do know for sure he tool a free T4 and T3 and TSH and an ANA . You let me know what test he results you need and I will find out the result from him. he also took a test called RF that I know he told me was 26 cause he told me it should only be 20 and he blamed it on my smoking told me to quite, which I have wanted to do for sometime . I just took my pulse and it is 80 but I do not have a mercury thermometer but I will get one this week adn if you let me know what test results you need I will find out all the results you need , I just want to know the truth and I really don't think my doc is tell me all of it. I know I am tired of sitting around wearing jackets in the house all the time people come to visit and think I am rushing them off cause I am leaving cause I have a jacket on then I explain no I am just freezing that's all...lol and they look at me strange and thinkI am sick and they don't

want to catch it and leave so they don't get sick. My hands are always cold as well as the tootsies and my Hubby says I have ice water in my veins not blood.

I am going to call my Dr right now and see if I can pick a copy of my test results up today yet of early morning tomarrow. and I will let you know what it says. Thank you Topper.

Hi Tina.... welcome to our little family!

Do you have a copy of your labs? Could you post the results here, along with the lab's ranges, for us to see?

I'm not understanding the diagnosis of Hashi's with checking TSH and some of the thyroid hormones.... the antibody levels have to be checked to determine Hashi's.... and if it's in a swing, a single test won't tell the tale either....

There are a lot of docs AND endos that aren't very knowledable about thyroid hormones, diseases... or people....... I'll stop with that...

I don't know what your finances are but there is a place, if you live in the US (but not in New York state) where you can order your own labs...... it might be a direction you want to go to find out what is going on thyroid-wise. www.healthcheckusa.com

Now.... it's been proven, and many of us, here, know by experience, that many of the aches and pains and miseries that we've dealt with for YEARS ends up being a result of improper thyroid hormone levels... and when we address that, and get the levels closer to where they SHOULD be many of the symptoms go away, or at least are greatly reduced.

Now, I'm not claiming that putting you on thyroid hormone is going to make all your problems go away... but I am gonna say that finding out if you are dealing with a thyroid problem and it is 'corrected' by proper dosing of replacement hormone your probably going to get rid of a few things.... and other things are gonna be a LOT easier to deal with if your mind and body have some of the things working again that weren't when the thyroid hormones were out of whack....

If you are indeed dealing with the fluctuations of thyroid hormone levels that Hashi's causes it could make the other issues that you are dealing with harder on you than they have to be.

Could you try a couple of simple tests for me? Assuming that you are quietly sitting at your computer reading (or a time when you've been quietly sitting for about 20 minutes) check your pulse rate.... just count the number of beats in 6 seconds and then multiply by 10.... tell me that number.....

The other test involves taking your temp..... if you have a mercury thermometer or a basal thermometer for checking for fertility.... let me know and I'll walk you through this simple self monitoring test.....

Having a thyroid gland out of whack throws off the whole body, other glands don't function properly.... organs don't function properly.. .it's a mess..... so if it can be determined if you do have a thyroid problem..... it would be a good thing to get things back in line....

When you have a bit of time to do some reading.... you're welcome to swing by our web site, you might find some tidbits there that will help put things in a better perspective.

Yahoo has been having fits for a few days now... I just got a glut of posts, some from several days ago... looks like folks weren't as quiet over the weekend as I thought... The posts that I made from the group site on Sunday have finally come through too...

Yahoo can be frustrating.. but we have to remember, at least it's still free... they contacted group owners a while back with a survey about charging fees... they were considering it... but so far, the groups are still free.... *holding breath and crossing fingers that it stays that way*

Now your numbers.

Midrange for your lab's Free T4 test is 1.3, your's is 1.5.. that's a bit over.. that's okay.... TSH is a tad high...new TSH ranges are .3 to 3.0 and most folks on replacement hormone seem to feel best with a TSH of about 1.0.

You NEED to have your Free T3 tested to know if your body is converting properly... so we don't know that....

Folic acid, I have trouble with that too.... that, IMHO, should be upped a bit.

Cholesterol is often funky when the thyroid levels are low... High cholesterol used to be a red flag for getting the thyroid checked.. but they make more money now ignoring the thyroid and selling you cholesterol meds instead.... (ooops, I didn't say that out loud, did I?)

I'd kick up the B-12 too.

TPO is high... so you know you're dealing with antibodies.

What dose of thyroid are you on, which med, and for how long?

Topper, Hi the thing is I am not on any kind of Medication , the Doc told me he just wants to monitor it and keep taking blood test every 4 to 6 months and I never had a free T3. See this is what bothers me everyone tells me I should be on medication and the Doc says no I don't need it cause my fT4 and Tsh were ok by his standards. I just want to feel better not so foggy brained and cold and tired all the time like I just ran a marathon. I don't understand what he is thinking but he is sending me for a sleep study, cause I do have to use sleeping pills to sleep and even then they take hours to work , once again I took my pill at 8 last night and was awake till 3 AM before I even had a hint of being tired. This just sucks I want me back. Tinatopper2@... wrote: Yahoo has been having fits for a few days now... Make the call Tina.... a lot of docs don't know how to treat thyroid disorders properly and we end up being the ones that pay the price...

Make the call Tina.... a lot of docs don't know how to treat thyroid disorders properly and we end up being the ones that pay the price...

It's your life, your health... do what you gotta do....

Oh well he says not he told me all I need to do is change my diet and have it monitored . I know this has me so mad but I feel like he is holding all the cards. I don't know what to do where to start.I am just really at my wits end cause I myself knew I needed treament when this first started about a year ago but no one will listen cause the popular Endo here in town I don't need treatment. This all just has me scared of what can happen if it is not treated soon. I just spoke to my hubby on the Phone and he said now will you please call the Insurance company and tell them everything and have them override him and send you for what ever test you need I want my wife back. So I guess i will try that. I have done so much reading about this I think at times I know more about it then the Docs in town .

You know, I think, that I have an attitude about docs..so take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt... but consider something for just a sec....

Docs work for us. Their job is to work with us to improve our health, to makes us as healthy as we can be.

If you feel like crap, and the doc is saying it looks okay to me, see ya later.... is he doing his job?

Here's my opinion.... if you feel like crap and the doc is saying, for all intents and purposes, that it's of no concern, see ya later.... he ain't doing his job.

The reason that I get so angry about this is that I did the same thing... the doc told me nothing was wrong and told me to go home.. but there was something wrong.... The BIG problem was that I grew up thinking that docs knew everything and never make mistakes you just shut up and kiss their toes and run out the door......

But there was something wrong with me.... I was an extreme, not everyone deals with what I ended up with (a genetic mess) but my walking away that day almost cost me my life. And I ended up sitting in a hallway 10 months later being told that I had to sign away all my rights in order to be given radiation and that if I didn't I would die.......

If you KNOW something is wrong, and the doc you are seeing keeps saying it's okay.... it's time to find another doc... One that will listen. Maybe the next doc will find that nothing is wrong with your thyroid, maybe it's something else... but either way you will KNOW.

I'm getting preachy... so it's time to be quiet....

Topper,

Hi the thing is I am not on any kind of Medication , the Doc told me he just wants to monitor it and keep taking blood test every 4 to 6 months and I never had a free T3.
