Guest guest
Culturelle works very well for Clostridia. Kirkman sells 80 mg Culturelle that is refrigerated (and therefore has more potency). I know it's not SCD legal (because it contains inulin), but many families who are doing SCD have used Culturelle to fight Clostridia with good results (I've read about this on various lists). http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/products/probiotics/culturelle/Culturelle_C_Spec813.h\ tml At 12:07 PM 1/2/2005 +0000, you wrote: >Hi, > >My son Robbie is 12, ASD, and has been on the SCD since July, 2004 - >we are seeing great things. Guest guest
I had tested for C diff and was negative, but they found something else that they treated with a strong dose of GSE (grapefruit seed extract). They told me if he had tested positive for c diff they would have treated the same way.. and it's legal on scd. For him being 4 yrs old they told me 10 drops 2x a day for 10 days - and for us (adults) 30 drops 2x a day for 45 days. Robbie Clostridia bacteria Hi, My son Robbie is 12, ASD, and has been on the SCD since July, 2004 - we are seeing great things. He has struggled with Clostridia bacteria for many years altho we had it under control (we thought) for the last 2 until we started SCD. We did an Organic Acid Test in Oct to just monitor things as he was doing well with his formed, brown stools and his behavior was good (usually we know when his bacteria and yeast are elevated by undesirable behaviors increasing). His HPHPA was 301 (normal is 0-150), his arabinose and tartaric were elevated as well. Robbie is a patient of Dr. Bradstreet's - he had Flagyl and Diflucan compounded but wanted us to recheck things in mid Dec. I just got the results on Friday and things are even worse - his HPHPA level is now 427. Needless to say, I'll be on the phone 1st thing Monday AM - I also have a phone consult on Wednesday. Has anyone experienced this rise in Clostridia? My theory is we have gotten the other bad bacteria with the SCD that now the Clostridia has a great place to live - I don't know if this is right or not. Robbie is on nut yogurt and also Kirkman's acid. On a positive note, he continues to have formed, brown stools, his behavior is good and he eats so well. When we ask how his tummy feels, it feels " good " and it use to feel " sick " . Thanks for any guidance you can give me. Mauck, Waukesha WI mom to Robbie, 12. Guest guest
Hi Jody, Robbie was on both Flagyl and Diflucan for 10 days, ending 11/20. I did the urine OATS on 12/13 and it increased that fast. > > , > > How long was he on the Flagyl? Guest guest
You mentioned that you are going to be speaking to Dr. Bradstreet, right? He should have some ideas for you on why the clostridia would go up during a course of Flagyl. Very odd. I do recall that Dr. McCandless is doing the Diflucan for much longer than 10 days. I believe is was more like 3 weeks. Jody mom to -6 and -8 SCD 23 months

Guest guest
Hi , Normally when people report having trouble with Clostridia they report symptoms of some kind. Is it possible that the high markers are from good bacteria or from something else (supplements...?) Are you taking probiotics or yogurt? Is he eating a lot of fruit? That might explain the arabinose. The tartaric increase can come from die-off. Was it a urine test? Or maybe they mixed up your results - it unfortunately does happen. He sounds to be do very well for some who should be so sick (according to those test results.)
