Thank you to you and the others for Christmas tree ideas. I may try

the ones with nuts and honey as Ben and I can't tolerate dried fruit

or coconut yet. Should be fun. We decorated the tree yesterday and

Ben has been very good not complaining about no treats yet - I'll

make them a surprise.

On the chestnut question, can I ask why I can't use the canned

chestnuts - it says nothing is added and that they're cooked. Maybe

I could cook them some more? I'm looking for an easy life as time

and energy are still limited.

Thank you.

Hi ,

I sent a post that Yahoo ate so, this may get posted twice:

Illegals can be added to the canned chestnuts that aren't listed on

the label, so it would be much safer to do your own. Sorry, I know

how busy a time of year it is. :(

Here are some additonal comments from Elaine on chestnuts: "

I have said that as one progresses on the diet, boiled chestnuts

(volume high in water and lower in starch) can be tried for

stuffings, etc.

However, chestnut flour and roasted chestnuts (low in water and high

in

starch) are not legal. OK??? "

and

" Chestnuts contain a great deal of starch, other nuts do not. But as

the

child progresses, if you boil chestnuts, you can use them in a

stuffing,

etc. But they are not permitted as a flour. "

So, it is likely too soon for Ben to have the chestnuts. Course,

it'll depend on the state of his bowels etc.

P.S. I really hate being the bearer of bad news :(

Hi Sheila

Thanks for all this info. Ever in search of an easier life though -

I thought that in the UK we have stricter labelling laws than in the

US and Canada so everything must be declared. Does anyone know if

I'm right?
