Hi Gloria;

If it were me, I'd want my first scan the traditional hypo way. It

is more accurate, and thryogen is expensive with a capital E.. I

think it was going to be 800 bucks a shot if my insurance wouldn't

cover. I went traditional for my first scan and thyrogen for number

2... and the first time I had insurance that wouldn't cover it so to

my way of thinking i wasn't about to put out 1600 bucks for less

reliable.. no way....

was more expensive but I would not have to go hypo. I have no

insurance and I have to pay cash up front for all my care I think I

would rather go hypo and save some money. lol

> Since this will be my first scan without a surgery I think I might

be better informed going hypo to be sure it is all gone. If I am

reading the post about thyrogen, it is not as accurate as a regular

scan.

after the administration of I-131 so nothing showed up. I think they

waited too long to do the scan.

> Should I request I be set up for the scan 24 or 48 hours later?

> I am calling today to schedule my bloodwork so lookout gang I will

be going hypo and writing to you constantly.

Hi,

For the first scan after surgery/ablation I would choose hypo (off meds), not

thyrogen, as going hypo will be most accurate. I believe that most drs. &

thycans agree to get 1 or 2 clean hypo scans behind you before opting for

thyrogen.

Just my opinion.

Best wishes,

But, but..why WOULDN'T you be on the LID? You should do the LID no

matter what, anytime you take a dose of any size.

{*{Thanks Folkes}*}

for your informative info on this subject ... Recall: you are ALSO

the folks who, back when I was about to get my rai ablation, warned

me from getting an iodine infusion during a CT scan: YOU KNEW MORE

THAN THEY DID!

Now, I must confront my endo (last time, it was my surgeon).

Many thanks for your wonderful information site.
