Dear Jules:

You did not state where the ulcer is or what some of your symptoms are. Have you been diagnosed with an ulcer? There are many things that can be used to heal ulcers depending upon where they are in the digestive tract. Do you have or have you had in the past colitis or Crohn's disease? Have you been tested for the heliobactre pylori bacteria? Do you travel extensively?

I am a master herbalist/iridologist/homeopath in clinical practice but don't want to overstep the boundaries of the e-mail group. Could someone please send me the scope of this group and what is allowed?

Thanks

Jules,

Fresh lemon juice in water will help an ulcer. You can drink as much as you

like.

Best,

My husband had an ulcer. I juiced him a head of cabbage a day for about two weeks and it is completely gone. I have a wheat grass juicer that I juiced the cabbage through.

Dear ,

I am not sure the rules of the list exactly, but would appreciate any advise.

I am 33 years old, I have had irritable bowel syndrome for 10 years.

I am in generally poor health. I did travel a lot when I was well,

all over Europe, South America and Africa. In 1994 I was diagnosed

via barium swallow with a duodenal ulcer. I have been tested for h.

pylori several times by blood test and endoscopy, each time negative.

Someone suggested lemon juice. I used to try drinking lemon and water

in the mornings, but it burned all the way down my chest. I have

since tested with an inflammatory response to lemons with the Alcat

test. Also an urologist has advised me to avoid citrus. I have drunk

many bottles of Aloe, with little effect - some people advise against

taking too much Aloe since it is in the Lilly family which some

people react badly to. I have taken cabbage juice, but probably not

in enough quantity to heal.

Jules,

There are several approaches that could be undertaken. I would not advise any acidic foods, including things like tropical fruits (bananas, citrus, pineapple, melons, etc.), which are high in sugar which can irritate the lining of your stomach and intestines. I have had the best luck using DGL (deglycyrrhized licorice) wafers, they must be the chewable kind or in powder form that you mix with your saliva to work. You take 1-2 wafers 30 minutes before each meal. This will heal a duodenal ulcer and ulcers of the stomach and esophagus in about 12 weeks. You will feel relief in just a couple of weeks, but need to continue taking them for the full 12 weeks. DGL from Enzymatic Therapy is very good for this. You will need to get on a good enzyme, as well to take with each meal. While you are in the healing phase, an enzyme without hydrochloric acid or pepsin is appropriate. After your ulcer is healed, you may want to try an enzyme with HCL, because one of the reasons for getting an ulcer is in fact that you do not have enough acid to break the food down. The food sits in the stomach too long and starts to irritate the lining of the stomach and duodenal. I can explain in more detail if you wish later. Of course, lactobacillus acidophilus is a must, as well. I generally find that taking 2 capsules or 1/2 tsp. of powder mixed in water at bedtime is good, so it can work all night without fighting your food. For the first couple of weeks you may want to drink slippery elm tea or marshmallow tea to help soothe the digestive tract (2-3 cups per day between meals). Keep your meals light and simple, lots of soups, stews, steamed veggies so that the food is warm but also partially broken down. I do not know the names of brands of products that may be available to you where you are at, as I live in Alberta, Canada. Also, have you considered parasites since you travelled extensively? The other possibility is allergies to specific foods which are irritating your stomach. I hope I have given you something to think on. Good luck on finding the items.

Sincerely,

Ulcer>>I had an ulcer a few years ago and now I am afraid it may be>returning. Thank you so much. This is very helpful. I tend to get overwhelmed

with what I need to do/not do, eat/not eat to heal. I have some DGL

licorice, vitamin shoppe brand, I just chewed some and already feel a

tiny but definite relief.

I have also been tested for parasites several times. some of the

tests came back negative for anything significant. However, two

separate tests, taken at different labs about 2 years apart both got

the same results showing that I had e. histolytica, blastocistis

hominis and one other I've forgotten the name of. My doctors said

they wouldn't worry about those results or prescribe treatment,

because the labs could be wrong.
