Guest guest
Dr. Connie Lehman, Director of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance reacts to news that a federal government task force recommends that women wait longer to begin breast cancer detection screenings. There is a video that you can watch: http://www.king5.com/health/Seattle-Cancer-Care-Alliance-Reacts-to-Govt-Cancer-Study-70285532.htmlFor myself, I've had 3 mammograms during the 20 years that I've lived in this city. During the first one, I ended up in the ER, because I got really dizzy and my vision went dark. The next time, the tech brought a chair in for me to sit on. That's the way I had it for the third one.My sister is a breast cancer survivor. She still gets mammograms.Donna in WA

Guest guest
I can't tell you how furious this makes me. Some of the ladies that are in their 20's in our group have Stage II breast cancer. While its not the worst, Stage IV is, what if they hadn't done self exams? Or just blew it off if they did find a lump figuring that nothing can happen till your 50's or later. I could almost guarantee they wouldn't be here and if they were, they would be Stage IV and one chemo for the rest of their life. It makes my blood curdle just thinking about it. I often wonder if I would had my first mammogram at 40 like they suggested, what stage I would have been. Probably DCIS. I was 44 when I discovered my lump. But we didn't have insurance and of course the kids always came first. I was Stage IIB, Grade II. But so far I am doing ok even though they said I had 60% chance of the cancer coming back. It will be 20yrs in May. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I totally disagree with theses changes. In my family there is a history of breast cancer. I will always teach someone how to do a self breast exam. I know that because I did self exams a lump that I found was able to be ruled out as breast cancer.Margaret A.
