Guest guest
I know of several people who have had it both ways - hospitalization and at-home isolation for RAI. I live in Florida, so I'm not sure if it's regulated by a " state " law. However, I may be wrong, but it was my belief that the hospitalization isolation was a requirement by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for individuals given a certain amount of radioactive material, and not something an individual state government could control. Interesting to find out more on this. mb States that Do Not require hospitalization for RAI Rx Is ther a list of states that do not require hospitalization for RAI Rx-not scan? In the alternative, could we perhaps develop one? thank you very much Fury

I spoke to the dept three times prior to my addmission - they say that Florida is one of the strictest states re hospitalization requiremetns. Interesting to find out more on this. This used to be the case, but in 1997 the federal guidelines were changed, shifting responsibility to the states, many of which in turn shift the responsibility to the hospitals. Some states continue to require hospitalized isolation, while some hospitals continue to require it, even in states that don't. Clear as a bell, huh? :-\ - NYC
Guest guest
Hi, I live in wisconsin and it is not required for RAI patients to stay in the hospital. I was told a few years ago the hospitals where told they do not have to hospitalize patients who have the RAI treatment. It has been in affect for atleast the past two years because both times I had RAI treatment I was sent home. I don't know if after several doses they will keep you but the first time I had 150 then the second time I had 150 where over all equaled 300 seeing the RAI stays dorment in your system for atleast 5 years. Well that is what I have been told up here in Wisconsin. Hope it helped.
