Guest guest
Hi all, Just to float a quick question. This week, had her 3rd fit in 6 months (assuming they are fits and everyone agrees they look most likely to be). She has been referred to the neurologist but of course arrogance and status means more than a child's welfare to the hospital that claims " the child first and always " so the referral from her GP from January has been rejected as they will only accept a referral from a consultant! What foolishness is that??? And why did they wait until the A & E (ER) doctor (who is not a consultant so her referral also cannot be accepted!) contacted them this week before we got to know? is due to have her coclear implant surgery on 31st March. We are due to meet with the surgeon next week. We both feel rather concerned about the possible (if any) implications for/from a CI while she is having fits of an unknown nature as the CI will be giving additional electrical stimulation over and above her own body's. Of course it may be that one has nothing to do with the other but as we have not had a consultation with a neurologist, it is hard not to have even more worries. We are writing to the ENT to request that (a) he refers to neuro and ( that he has a discussion with them about possible implications if any etc. Any comments, advise, suggestions etc would be very gratefully received. It all feels quite uncertain about the CI all over again and we would rather it was postponed than compromise in any way. Thanks Flo
