Guest guest
Good luck Layci! Sounds like you've been through a lot already! Good luck with your doc visit... I'm on modified bedrest at home.... I'm at week 29 and have been on bedrest since week 24... It's hard enough on me, and I'm still allowed to get up and get food and go to the bathroom.... I can't imagine what it's like to be flat in the hospital! If you can access the internet regularly, I'd suggest a website - www.sidelines.org - they are a support site for women on bedrest... to help us keep our sanity.... *S* Here's hoping the weeks fly by, and those babies stay where they need to stay! *S* Lorraine I'M BACK--sort of (NEED PRAYERS!) Hey guys... Just thought I'd let you know that I've been in the hospital for 24 days now!!! I just got internet access today or else I would have posted a LONG time ago! I went to my sonogram appointment on Oct. 27th when I was 18 weeks. My cervix was funnelled to the stitch and it had shortened to 1.8 cm. My dr. immediately sent me to the hospital and I have been here ever since. I was and still am sooooo scared. I have had weekly sonograms here in the hospital every Monday. I HATE having them because everytime I have one, my cervix seems to have shortened even more. The good thing is though, that the stitch is still holding and there hasn't been any pain or bleeding or anything like that. About 2 weeks ago, my dr. sent me to a perinatologist across the street from the hospital to see if he had any ideas of what else we could do. I had to go in an ambulance because I'm not allowed to sit up at all. Anyway, this dr. said that doing another cerclage might make things worse because what was left of my cervix was still closed. My cervix was about .9 cm that day. Anyway, I had been having lots of braxton-hicks contractions so he put me on a medication to slow and stop those just in case they were contributing to my cervical shortening. This past Monday, after one week of being on STRICT bedrest and the medication, my cervix was unchanged from the week before and we are now holding steady at .9 cm! It sounds bad but my dr. is really impressed that I've made it this far and thinks that the combination of meds and the strict bedrest may do the trick for a while longer. My feet haven't touched the floor in 12 days! I have been in the trendelenburg position and using a bed pan (which totally sucks!) I am going in the ambulance again tomorrow morning to see the perinatologist again and I am really nervous about seeing the length of my cervix this time. I PRAY that it is still unchanged. Oh yeah, and another thing that we found out was that baby B's umbillical cord only has 1 artery and 1 vein in it when it's supposed to have 2 arteries in it. The ureter from her kidney's to her bladder is a little shorter than normal as well, so they warned me that these things could mean that there could be something wrong. As of right now, I don't know how bad or how wrong that could be. For some reason, I'm not that worried about it and feel like she will be fine. Oh yeah, and If I haven't told you already, we're having 2 girls! Anyway, this coming Wednesday I will be 22 weeks and will have been in here for 4 weeks. As much as it sucks, I hope and pray that I will be in here much longer. Please keep me in your prayers! They seem to be working! Well, I better get going for now. Hope everyone is doing well! Guest guest
Layci! I'm so happy to hear from you! We were all getting worried, so it's such a relief to hear those little girls are still in there and growing strong. I'm going to be sending tons of positive thoughts of health in hope that those girls will stay put. I hope you're keeping sane and that you're handling being on bedrest as well as can be expected. Yay on your cervix not changing for a week. That's a great sign. Thanks for keeping us posted! Guest guest
Hi there - I just read your post and wanted to extend my prayers and best wishes. I can't imagine what you must be going through. I'm not sure which would be worse, the worry and concern or the bed rest. It sounds like you're handling it very well. Best wishes for a healthy remainder of your pregnancy.
