I usually just read and not comment, but let me say:

First of all we are Dallas Fire-Rescue Department. Secondly we respond to

nursing homes and even outside an emergency room if it is a 911 call. Lastly,

you are all correct so let's move on. I hope you all attend the GETAC

Committee meetings during the convention, like it or not this is the system we

have

for making/changing rules. Until this process changes let's work within the

current system to make the necessary improvements to provide the best health

care for the citizen of Texas and those who happen to pass through our great

state.

Let's push to make 911 available for all areas of the state. Gene I respect

your passion and I appreciate everything you do, even though I may disagree

with some of your ideas I know you act out love and not malice wish we all

would.

You mean that 60% of ' budget funding from Medicare/Medicaid is not

government funding? Only difference is JPS receives tax dollars as a

hospital district specifically for indigent care. All hospitals rely heavily

on government funding-hence all the signs in the waiting room (EMTALA,

COBRA, HIPAA).

I think you're comparing appkes to oranges. When you look at health funding

in ANY aspect it can come from public or private sources.

Hospital is government funded, as well as user fees.

Methodist (a mile away) is ALL private funded. Should we ask

to close its doors because it generates a profit?

By that logic, funeral services are also EMS. That's where I came

from.

There is nothing " emergency " nor " medical " about funeral services.

And there is nothing " emergency " nor " medical " about invalid

transportation. So are we now reducing EMS to nothing but a fancy

semantic with no actual meaning?

As a matter of fact I did search. I even used EMSAT in my search

engine. I wounldn't have asked for help if I found it already. Now get

your panties out of a wod. If you need some finacial assistance, I'll

by the wood for you so you can build a bridge and get over it.

Only problem is that there are several boards of certification that

provide additional areas of certification/expertise for these nurses.

The Board of Certification of Emergency Nurses for Certified

Emergency Nurses (CENs) and the American Association of Critical Care

Nurses for Critical Care Nurses (CCRNs) are two that I can think of

right off hand. To further complicate matters, there are advanced

degree options for Family Nurse Practitioner and Pediatric Nurse

Practitioner. As you can see, the nursing waters are just as murky if

not worse than for EMS.

Regulation (or lack thereof) isn't limited to the EMS realm.

According to an article I read in Texas Monthly (take it for what it's

worth), the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners (now the Texas

Medical Board) used to be rather lax in exercising their disciplinary

arm. Now, under the direction of , MD, JD, it's kick butt.

Basic Nursing is basic nursing, you take the NCLEX, you get regulated by the

BNE. Additional is just that. I have no issuse with ours functioning the

same, and add CCEMT-P, FP-C, EMT-T, etc.

Great. Another comedian who takes a shot, then pretends to be the

victim when somebody responds. At least I feel good that I gave you

the opportunity to use that retarded line that you were obviously

chomping at the bit to post.

And basic driving is basic driving. Non-emergency, non-medical

invalid transportation needs only a ride, not medical care. They

shouldn't have to call or be charged for a medical ambulance. If you

think they should, you obviously haven't paid an ambulance bill lately.
