Hey.

I just got a " What's up " mail from Shan... so I thought I'd check in.
I always loved this group, but life just got in the way of checking
in and keeping up.

For those I don't know... I'm a 6'0 " tall, 46 year old male
Kindergarten teacher. Last June I was 240 pounds with a body fat of
34%. Now I'm 187 with 14.2% bodyfat. I've lost my weight and kept it
up using Body for Life eating for the first few months and a regular
calorie controlled, balanced diet since then. I eat 1800 calories a
day most days, broken into 7 meals a day. I have gone up 7 pounds
since my low of 180, so I am being strict again to get it back down.

Like most of us, my body and my natural eating habits want to go back
up in weight, so I have accepted the fact that I have to monitor my
eating for the rest of my life.

As for exercise, I am the Anti-Aerobics Maniac. I have done all my
loss with controlled diet and 2-3 days of lifting weights (no more
than 45-60 minutes per day) per week. It works for me and for some
others I know that have done it.

The hardest part for me has been two-fold: 1) Being a teacher, the
lounge seems to always have donuts and bagels and other tasty junk.
Before I would have a donut or 3 during the day... now I just have
one half donut or walk by it all together... not easy, but that's
what it takes for me. 2) Working out when I don't want to! Sometimes
it will be workout day and I just don't want to go... but I force
myself to get dressed and go... usually I'm glad I did and sometimes
I hate it... but it's the cost of living better...

I'll start reading posts and try to get involved again.

Thanks again to Shan for the mail. Glad to be around again.
Hi Kiti.

I go to a gym to workout. I admire people who can do it at home, but

I just can't do it that way... I need to get away and workout

somewhere else.

If you want to do the workout at home, it would help to at least

have a basic set of dumbells and a bench... you can usually find

those for a decent price at Wal-Mart or Costco or someplace like

that.

I also only did the weight part because a long term committment to

six days a week just wasn't go to happen with the rest of real life.

Good Luck.
