Guest guest
Welcome! You have your hands full. I'm so glad you have found IE and are already relating to it. And the joy of being free from diets that don't work anyway. Many of us have been concerned about weight gain on this new way of thinking and for some of us, myself included, we did gain weight. I know because I did have to buy a bigger size. I stopped weighing myself months ago and won't even have it done at the Doctor's office. To me, that just puts the focus on weight, on the external cues and not on the internal cues of learning to listen to my body. I am a firm believer in what you think about you attract to yourself too. The more I think about weight, the more I attract to my self. Words of wisdom: this is a process and you didn't learn dieting over night so you won't learn this instantly either. Be kind to yourself, especially in the beginning. Don't try to be perfect or judgemental, just observe for a while. I keep a food journal, not a dieting type but one focused on the emotions and on the pleasure of the food. Someone who posted a while back I think was a dietitian and on I, but I don't have her name anymore, sorry. Anyway, glad to have you. You can be honest here because we have all gone through most of what you will experience. Sandy Hello. My name is , and I'm a work-from-home mom to three boys: a 2-year-old and identical twin 8-month-olds. I have struggled with my weight and body image as long as I can remember, but recently the idea of another diet has just made me feel like I'd rather pull out my hair. A friend suggested Intuitive Eating, and when I read about the Last Supper eating, I knew finally someone got me. Finally, I'm ready to be FREE from food obsession. It has stolen too many years of my life away, and I don't want it to steal time away from my children. I want to be present in their lives. So, I've read the first few chapters of the book, and I'm sold on the philosophy, at least from a mental perspective, but I'm still a bit scared of not being on a diet even though I know they don't work. I'm afraid of getting even heavier and not being able to wear clothes I just started wearing since having the babies. I'd love some words of wisdom. Also, I wonder if any of you have worked with a dietitian to get help with applying the principle of IE to your life? If so, how did you find someone? Guest guest
Hi and welcome, You must be so busy with three under 3. I remember when I had 3 under 4. It's overwhelming, especially trying to work from home and raising three wee ones. You really need to make time for yourself as well as all the other obligations you have. I remember as a mom with young children that was the most challenging. Sometimes just getting to the bathroom alone was difficult. Yes, diets don't work. They make you fatter. I am living proof.
