I'm due on Aug. 25th, and I with you on the 37 week thing. I have warned my

hubby that he's got what I want (semen, which has oxytocin) and that he

should be prepared. I hope I have the energy to go through with it!!

(Haha!)

Hubby and I just finished our last Hypnobirthing class last night, and I am

feeling confident that this will go really well. I just want to get it all

started!! The heat here is killing me, it's 94 today, thank God for air

conditioning!!!

Good luck to you and any other Aug. mommies-to-be! It's finally almost

here!!

Having two children already, I can certainly sympathize with wanting to

have the pregnancy over with as soon as possible. The thought of going

through the hotter parts of the summer pregnant is not a pleasant one,

but just remember this. the little one inside you knows when he or she

is ready, and all the natural " help " in the world won't bring them out

until they are ready (and they shouldn't until they are ready anyways!).

Both of my kids were overdue. We used to joke that they didn't want to

give up the waterbed! Kayleigh (my oldest) was overdue by 3 weeks, and

Chelsea was 2 weeks late. While it was uncomfortable, I am glad that

they stayed in until they were ready to come out. Mother Nature

(usually!) knows best for normal, healthy pregnancies.

Best of luck!

S :-)

I would be content to sit back and let nature take it's course but I

am trying for VBAC and I have a history of large babies 1 vaginal

8lbs 9oz at 39 weeks and 1 cesarean(because of placenta previa) 6lbs

8oz at 36 weeks so If I want a successful VBAC she can't be too big

and my OB's will not induce a VBAC because of the risks of rupture.

So she has a limited window of opportunity to come on her own before

she gets to big. This is my Husbands first child and I desperately

want him to be able to witness his child coming into the world the

natural way so he can participate in her birth. Believe me I will do

what's best for her but if I can help her along I will. Like I said

37 weeks I'll start trying if she is not ready she won't come and if

she is she will. :)

Janine,

I have also told my hubby be ready to work I read this evening an

article about natural ways to induce labor and sex was recomended in

double doses they said try it once keeping the semen close to the

cervix for as long as possible and then do it again a few hours

later. Also other techniques were discussed such as nipple

stimulation (which has been known to cause harsh painfull

contractions that could possibly cause stress to the baby), castor

oil (which does cause your bowel to empty and can be painfull),and

reflexology. There is a spot on the inside of each heel right below

and a bit behind the ankle bone that is said (and my friend swears it

works her mother in law did it to her and she went into labor that

night) to coincide with your uterus and can cause you to contract.

Also the point for you pituitary gland (called the master gland)about

the middle of your big toe or a little lower is supposed to help

because your pituitary gland is responsible for releasing oxytocin.

I'm not suggesting anybody use these techniques I'm just relaying

what I've read up on and I think I like the sex and the reflexology

best. There is a salon nearby that has a massage therapist that does

reflexolgy so maybe next week I'll treat myself to a pedicure and a

massage :)

I can definitely understand that! My 2nd was 8lbs 4oz. ouch! I'm hoping

that if/when I get pregnant this time, that s/he won't be quite so big!

:)

Best wishes to you. I am sure it will all work out.

AWWWWWWWW!!! Now I am starting to get jealous! I am starting to get

excited about Sept. YAY just next month. As far as getting baby

here, I completely agree. It will work if she is ready. I had

really big babies and problems with the one I had VBAC because of his

size. He had shoulder dystocia and a lot of problems! I had him at

37.1 weeks as a result of an induction thinking he would be small

enough. WRONG!! He was 9 lbs. 10 oz!! My first was 10 lbs. 2 oz.

at 38.5 weeks. He was a C-section. Well my third was a C-section at

37.1 weeks for fear of a repeat of the second delivery and she was

7lbs. 5 oz. We are going for another C-section this time!! I am

5'2 " and wasn't built to birth those big babies. I do envy those who

can. I don't know why I went on and on, SORRY! I guess I am just

agreeing with you, if you can get her here earlier than your due

date, you will have a better chance at a VBAC. You and baby will be

in my prayers!!!

Thank you Trina for you support. You definatly had some big babies

when I had my 8 pounder he tore my cervix as well as my perinium so I

can't even imagine any bigger. I still have about a week and a half

before I can start trying and when I said that to my hubby he said

that soon (eyes popping out at me)!!! I laughed so hard I gave myself

a braxton hicks.

can't even imagine any bigger. I still have about a week and a half

before I can start trying and when I said that to my hubby he said

that soon (eyes popping out at me)!!! I laughed so hard I gave myself

a braxton hicks.

Baby Carmen due August 26th....actually, I've changed the due date (myself)

to August 22nd...just a woman's intuition thing!

Feeling good, but getting tired and hoping baby Carmen isn't too little. My

son was 9lbs8oz and I have a feeling that this baby is much smaller. I'd be

happy with at 7.5lbs....8 or over would be better, though.

Thanks for checking in with us!!

Marcy,

My son seems very happy to be a big brother and he always tells me

to drive safely and if I hurt myself he asks if the baby is ok. So I

am hoping he will be fine I have a ten year old also and they fight

constantly so I hope he feels like he can get closer to the baby than

he is to his older brother and not feel that middle child syndrome I

hear about. Right now he is the baby (and he acts like it too) so

he'll have to grow up a little.

I am with you on wanting her to come early. My husband just about

died when I told him I would WANT to have sex starting around the

17th. Big switch. :)

I have a feeling Avery will be early all on her own, but that's

probably just wishful thinking and she'll still be cookin' in

September.

Best of luck to everyone!

That is so sweet how he is so concerned for you and the baby. We only told my

daughter a month ago, when I was 4 months, because I had a few complications in

the beginning and we really wanted to make sure me and the baby were ok before

we told. Well shes had about 3-4 weeks now, and she talks about it " some " she

hasnt really gone all out excited yet. Although she DID ask us for years to

give her a little brother or sister, and from what I hear, she talks about

having a brother or sister to her friends and their parents, like at birthday

parties and stuff. But with us, shes been a little quiet about it. We took her

to my last visit and she got to see the ultrasound and she smiled, but I think

its all still new to her. I just hope that after asking us for so long, she

DOES get excited eventually. She does ask how Im doing and all that. I'm only

5 months so time will tell. But anyway, I have been concerned about the age

difference between the two. My sister and I were 2 years apart and fought non

stop, maybe THIS age difference will be good lol.......Just wanted to ask

someone else in the same position, thanks for responding!!!

Marcy,

I'm sure that once you start to really " show " , that she'll get really

excited. Often times it's hard for kids that young to really understand

what being pregnant means until they see the concrete proof. Until

then it's an abstract to them, and not something to get excited over.

Think of it in terms of a candy bar in hand, or the promise of ice

cream later. Most kids will generally take the candy bar from you

immediately, because it's in front of them, and they can see it.

Ice cream later isn't quite so tangible to them.
