Guest guest
Hi Dawn, That is good news. Last night I was laying in bed thinking over your problem and thought that I would suggest you contact MDA to see if they can be of any help. It is good that Mike beat me to it. I hope you are successful and finally get your disability. When I was dx i 93 I still worked until Feb 96. I was on massive doses of Prednisone for the first year then was tapered down to maintainence dosage. The PM didn't get any better but it became more difficult for me to work as a painter in the hospital in Howell where I worked for 24 yrs. I also had my rheumy fill out that i couldn't walk but about a block before it became difficult, couldn't climb strairs as easily as before and many other problems. I hope you and your husband have a safe trip and come back with good news. Guest guest
KIRK GOT THE JOB AT RADIO SHACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Do you feel your floor tremoring a little?? If so, that's the aftershock of all the back-flips I've been doing to celebrate. LOL. He can basically start whenever he wants, HE GETS BENEFITS, but we're not real sure if there's a waiting period, and we're not sure about the pay. The owner asked him what he wants for $$ and Kirk said he didn't know but told him what he was making now. But he said " I know it won't be as much as that " , but wanted to give him some idea what he's used to making. I'm thinking it will be around $9/hour, because Kirk didn't get the impression it would be minimum wage. I'm a bit nervous about that part, I won't lie. I just don't know how we'll get by until I get my Disability, but WE'LL HAVE HEALTH BENEFITS!! I'm so thrilled for him. Not to mention, it's going to be a gazillion times easier on him physically, which he's also greatful for. Isn't this cool??? For the first time since we've been married, he FINALLY has what I would consider a secure job. He's the king of being laid-off, I swear!! Guest guest
Thankyou so much, Ed. Wow, what a man to be laying in bed thinking of the plights of someone who lives probably thousands of miles away who you've never even met face to face before. That touches me. Thanks for the tips. I've written down 1 1/2 pages worth of things that I'm unable to do and am going to give them to my GP (although she's aware of most of them) and also going to include it in my appeal. Guest guest
Who do you mean, the MDAC?? No, I get a choice (provided my GP will send a referral and if they can squeeze me in). I gave my GP a list today of the 4 teaching hospitals I've narrowed down where I prefer to go, but I think she's leaning toward Mount Sinai, although I really like the sounds of that Sunnybrook and Women's clinic. She has a cousin who's in pediatrics who works out of Mount Sinai and she said she's going to get her to give her advice on who the best Rheumy would be to refer me to. I trust that.
