Guest guest
HC is short for Hydrocortisone. It is used to replace cortisol in adrenal fatigue which i very common in hypothyroid patients. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
Guest guest
This is interesting, Val. I don't know why my PG is suddenly at the upper end of lab range without any supplementation. I do take DHEA and 7-Keto but that shouldn't turn into PG. At any rate, something is definitely going on with me because I've had this high temp thing and anxiety last month during my luteal phase as well. And it does feel like thyroid dumps with getting so hot and nervous. I wonder if I lowered HC too fast and then when my PG gets high in the luteal phase, I get a thyroid dump from PG converting into HC? One day, I lowered my t3 in half and my temps went even higher which seems to me my body had enough cortisol to finally put the t3 into my cells. Do you know what would cause this AWFUL depression, though? My temps right now indicate a tad hypo (averages of around 98.3 now that the " hot phase " is over.) Is depression possible from weaning HC? Thanks, Kathleen > > Progesterone is a precursor to cortils and aldosterone so GOOD levels of > it ar3e important, BUT it can alos MIMICK cortils and thus bind ot it;s > receptors creating a form of cortisol resistance. Guest guest
Thanks for sharing, . I just replied to Val and addressed some of what you wrote below. I agree with what you're saying. This has happened two months in a row now, although this month was the worst and I do think I have weaned HC too fast, which likely makes me a prime candidate for the extra PG to turn into cortisol and dump thyroid into my cells! One doc a long time ago had me on 200 mg TRANSDERMAL PG!! LEt me tell you, that was not good! I don't know if it turned into extra cortisol or blocked the cortisol receptors, but I was sweating (not necessarily feeling hot, but sweating). My slippers were always wet because my feet were sweating so much and I had terrible panic attacks. So maybe that was a thyroid dump, too, not sure! My chills don't usually have anything to do with feeling cold really. It's sort of hard to explain, but I don't get them all the time and I mostly get them at night when I do, so I thought it might be low estrogen. I am going to pay more attention this month to when they start up. HC tanked my DHEA and testo, too, but I've been supplementing both for several months now. The DHEA seemed to make my estrogen go up, too, as I started to experience signs of estrogen dominance (swollen breasts mostly) that went away when I lowered DHEA and added 7-Keto instead. I was also getting migranes which I'd NEVER had before and I think that can be related to monthly estrogen levels, too. I'm glad you are doing well. I have a super hard time telling if I need more t3 or not because of the high temp issues. I also think I have latent infections (had active EBV last winter) that is making my temps look falsely high. GRHH. Guest guest
maybe less of your Pregnenolone is needed for DHEA now so more converts to progesterone. Either way it being high is a problem. I would stop DHEA as it is a known problem child when adrenals are not perfectly functional. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/

Guest guest
Thanks, Val. I have never been sure why we aren't supposed to take DHEA if our adrenals are still weak as the research I did said there is no feedback mechanism for it and thus it doesn't shut down our adrenals, so I wasn't sure why it would lower cortisol. My doctor put me on it because I was developing osteoporosis, but I am also taking testo compounded gel, too. Guest guest
It is like estrogen and progesterone DHEA adn cortils counbter balance each other. When one goe s up it pushes the other down. Keeoiugn estrogen and testisterone at oeak of their ranges willhelp the Osteo more than DHEA will. Whe n adrenals are not workign perfect DHEA does nto convert as it should to the right sex hormoens either. It tends to cause acne long before test is high enough for instance. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/
